  1. Any marathon entries up for grabs? Please let me know.
  2. Weekend was a blur of sore legs and a pounding heart. You are not alone in your fear.
  3. I see some sneaky puff-adder training was had this weekend. Hope it all went well.
  4. Rouxtjie loves getting his wooden spoon out and stirring. I believe you put some pain down at D2D Mr ST... Sick? I think not.
  5. Not enough! Low on training and I know SeanN will be bringing home the pain!
  6. I know only one thing - I'll be on the end of a tow rope. Going to shed some blood but man it's going to be worth it.
  7. Those rocks made your wheel a pretzel, that is for sure.
  8. I'd go with both. Although that single concrete strip would be like a cheese grater if you took a tumble.
  9. Gees I'm laughing. Nothing like some motivation to make you forget about the pain.
  10. Yes, that would represent a problem. I can think of two areas where you must have been praying each time - steep concrete strip where you T-bone the river and go left and then again near the river, the rocky decent curving right before you turn left and follow the river again. You must have had fist pump like a beast after those sections.
  11. I used Time Freight as well. Sent a frame from PMB to JHB for R300 about 3years ago. I'm sure it's gone up a bit by now. It's a volumetric cost basis more so than a mass base for a bike.
  12. The vegetation (grass type) leads to the theory that that area is historically a seep. Probably dictated through geology of the area and infiltration of rainfall at the higher elevations to form a shallow aquifer which then releases water through the winter season. If I'm right, it's going to be ugly in the summer. The top of Stefano's loop was also very wet at one time but has since shown signs of drying.
  13. *HIJACK ON* Soon dude, soon. Busy with rehab after the knee op at the end of April. Will hopefully take the big wheels out this weekend for a short ride. *HIJACK OFF*
  14. I see the point. It can lead to all sorts of problems. As a beginner, it is annoying not knowing the routes. I started out riding with people who knew the area and that was quite some time ago. To date, I'm still not 100% sure how to get to several of the famed trails on my own. I rely on Rouxtjie and Co. for that.
  15. This is not the first time the lack of directions and route markings has been brought up concerning VG. As to why there are no markings, your guess is as good as mine. You sometimes get smart answers like, "Go ride with the locals." Or you are told it's straight forward and you cannot get lost. The trails are great fun but I agree with you, it would be nice to know where to find them. As you say, to me, the map is just about useless.
  16. This is interesting. Using that formula I come out at 1.98. To make sure I'm doing it right, weight is 61kg and I'm 1.72m. I do feel climbing is my strong point. I simply don't have the power to hold on to gurus when it comes to prolonged flat sections. Hopefully some time in the gym can diminish the gap to some degree.
