  1. I'll be there!Edit: Doing the 70km, give me strength!
  2. I'll try later when things are working. A bit screwy at the moment it seems regarding embedding etc.
  3. If I wanted to go to 1x10, would any chain ring work up front or does it need to be 10sp chain compatible?
  4. My All Mountain bike. Not enjoying life up here in JHB though. Certainly misses Cascades and Karkloof! Want lighter tyres though ....
  5. Hey, Is anyone else plagued by the Hub not loading correctly re: formatting and content? I have to refresh the page before it loads correctly and not always on the first refresh either.
  6. To all those doing the 90km. What sort of pace are we looking at? Reason is I'd rather not be stopping every 5km like on CM.
  7. SRAM use a different actuation ratio than Shimano on the RD. Your LBS is correct. Having said that SRAM shifters are compatible with Shimano FD. It's only the RD which are specific. Hope that helps.
  8. $9 cardboard bike. Just might take a long time to build ...
  9. Nice price! I saw one built-up at Mike's Bikes the other day. Personal choice however would be the Tallboy aluminium over the Superlight29.
  10. A bit of show and tell .... I don't mind if I do!
  11. Shame on you. Making my Superlight feel old . If you are a heavier rider, the Zula is better. It has a larger diameter pivot linking the rear triangle to the main frame. Less flex and more control in the corners. I'm a Santa Cruz fan. The geometry is spot on for me.
  12. <HIJACK> This is just what I've been looking for! I have the SC Superlight which is of course very similar to the Zula. And to think I have a Fox as well .... dare I wonder what I am waiting for! </HIJACK>
  13. Thankfully I can swim and I believe bikes do sort of float... And I wasn't anywhere close to falling in. I think I've just been spoilt with KZN single track and karkloof maintenance for all the years I lived there. I still thoroughly enjoy riding at VG!
  14. I didn't see it in time to bunny hop it ... Sort of bulldozed my way through, up and over. All is good as long as I don't test the floating ability of my bike ...
  15. That bridge needs serious work. It would be nice to see some of our R40 entrance fee going to doing a proper job. When I rode on Sunday they had patched it up a bit but on the VG side of the river, they had put a crate the wrong way round, or should I say upside down. The tilt is still there and I heard several trail runners on the Saturday Crazy Store run had a swim!
  16. Where at Delta Park does this take place? I'm interested in attending next time.
  17. I'm looking at riding on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Start at Delta Park (top) and then move my way over and up to Emmarentia. You're welcome to join. Just give me a shout.
  18. Completely agree with you. I've had near head on collisions with several MTB'ers there who I would swear did not have brakes fitted to their bikes, full on suicide hold. No slowing down and no attempt to even shift a little off the path to allow us to pass each other, leaving me bundu bashing. Is it becoming a case of whoever is bigger wins? Knowing that animals are unpredictable I'm stunned how arrogant some people are that they fly past large and small dogs with little more than 1 metre berth. Not only will they seriously injure the poor animal should they suddenly dash off into the path of the rider but an incident may conjure a culture of banning MTB from public parks should the dog walker feel strongly enough and put pressure on parks and recreation and local ward councillors.
  19. I'll be riding there alone this afternoon around 16:30. I still think I'm safe there. As previously mentioned, it's pretty busy and busy areas are often your friend despite being annoying with people and animals getting in your way.
