  1. Spelling is questionable in the picture....
  2. What does the Epic Comp Carbon weigh as standard? I'm currently toying with the idea of getting the Epic CC.
  3. I'm also looking at the XR729. I think it's amazing value for money. My question revolves around the E:i system. Just how reliable and hassle free is it going to be? Will I be locked in to one LBS to service this equipment? What if something goes wrong while doing for example the Cape Pioneer etc? Everything else is telling me this is going to be a great bike to ride!
  4. You're right. I use the big wheels in GP. Loved riding this bike in KZN with the twisty ST and roots etc. Find it hard to complete against the wagon wheel crowd up here with it. Still my pride and joy though!
  5. My special bike - Superlight. Anodised slate.
  6. I rode this race last year. The numbers were appalling low. I thought it strange as well considering how many people ride MTB there. Hopefully it'll get better this year, but not much by the sounds of it.
  7. The "new" Oom Piets is not the greatest piece of single track that I have ridden at VG. Was having a ball until then and then I hit the proverbial wall. Wessel, everything else was brilliant. Thank you.
  8. It's a long steady climb. The VG regulars might have some extra or alternate information.
  9. Saturday morning at the farm, open from 6 a.m. I think.
  10. I don't know how your rims don't look like the blades of my oscillating desk fan already! Holy cow. I would suggest some additional sky in your rounds for sure!
  11. Agree. As a light weight, 60kg, I run mine at 22psi which is about 1.6 bar.
  12. I think I've ridden this Nguni trail. Nice piece of real estate. I think the key with the babyheads/marbles is to call "track" clearly and early if you're riding it.
  13. Any pics of "Jou Baas"? Sounds like "Oom Piet" has become "Blixem Piet"
  14. You'll make lekker side-winder tracks like that We know the answer for both though don't we? As much speed as you can muster and keep that cadence high.
  15. Hopefully good enough to replace the current Scorpion King.
  16. I can see Skillzzzz going for a swimming lesson when the fatigue sets in.
  17. I missed last years VG due to injury and recovery. I've heard frightening things about the floating bridge. That the side when riding off of it is very slippery and okes were falling everywhere. Is this the case?
  18. It's becoming an expensive problem. I'm down for Hilton the weekend before Rainbow as well. Will try work in the PMB office or DBN office for the week between the two.
  19. Yip. It hurt me so bad I'm coming back for more!
  20. There was a bit of handbag swinging on Twitter yesterday coming from Brandon Stewart. I loved the route. Really tough and unparalleled amount of climbing! Now to get ready for Rainbow.
  21. Continuing on from my earlier post, help me make sense of this. Is my above understanding correct, based on the following. Vehicles 15. No person may within a public open space – (a) except at times specified and on roads or pathways provided by the Council, drive, draw or propel any vehicle other than a bicycle; (b) drive, draw or propel a vehicle in excess of five kilometres per hour; or © park a vehicle in a public open space, except in designated area or other area where parking is otherwise permitted by the Council. I retrieved this from: http://www.joburg.org.za/bylaws/ The public space pdf document. Edit: spelling
