  1. I missed last years VG due to injury and recovery. I've heard frightening things about the floating bridge. That the side when riding off of it is very slippery and okes were falling everywhere. Is this the case?
  2. It's becoming an expensive problem. I'm down for Hilton the weekend before Rainbow as well. Will try work in the PMB office or DBN office for the week between the two.
  3. Yip. It hurt me so bad I'm coming back for more!
  4. There was a bit of handbag swinging on Twitter yesterday coming from Brandon Stewart. I loved the route. Really tough and unparalleled amount of climbing! Now to get ready for Rainbow.
  5. Continuing on from my earlier post, help me make sense of this. Is my above understanding correct, based on the following. Vehicles 15. No person may within a public open space – (a) except at times specified and on roads or pathways provided by the Council, drive, draw or propel any vehicle other than a bicycle; (b) drive, draw or propel a vehicle in excess of five kilometres per hour; or © park a vehicle in a public open space, except in designated area or other area where parking is otherwise permitted by the Council. I retrieved this from: http://www.joburg.org.za/bylaws/ The public space pdf document. Edit: spelling
  6. For sure! Barely made it out alive. Owner even tells me to chill. His dog bites him sometimes as well... Can you believe it! I was confronted by an older gentleman at the rose garden area towards the end of the year. He stopped me and enquired whether I knew the conditions set out in the bylaws. I replied that I didn't and said I'd check up. It turns out that to my understanding of the matter, cyclists should not exceed 5km/h (might be 10km/h). Municipal vehicles required for maintenance in city park areas are excluded from the restriction. Edit: I think the man's name was David
  7. What about Parktown prawns? They dig the sand.. Pun
  8. Power video! I just want to go ride now!!!
  9. That's a brilliant job. Started with me in C and put 14min into me! Ouch.
  10. The rumor mill has it that we won't have the WC next year. Australia most likely to take it off our hands because of the low spectator turnout at the event this year. Pity!
  11. That's terrible! Sorry for your loss! On a lighter note, did you cycle home?
  12. Any feedback available on your Vipa? Build components and weight?

  14. I'm flabbergasted at the gap between 1st and 2nd in the Elite Women's race!
  15. Great ride! Yes, there were bottle necks and some congestion but the course was great fun. The pace started high in c batch for the marathon. My time in the pain cave started early and there wasn't much light at the end of the tunnel until the finish. Feeling properly shattered now. Hope everyone else had fun!
  16. I wonder what it's like being down in the drops, railing the ST?
  17. Don't let me catch you
  18. Boss fast! Makes me wonder, will we have CX bikes at the race? Anyone brave enough?
  19. Marathon - Batch C
  20. Well done to all! Savage route with little time to recover. Great seeing everyone and even better that the majority of us managed to achieve our goal times . I think I'll upgrade to a full-sys for next year. My naught refused to be put on a bicycle seat this morning.
  21. Hi guys, Sean is a friend of mine from school days in Bloem. Sadly, he has not been receiving a tremendous amount of donations of late. The cycle is in aid of PETS, Pet Empowerment in Townships. There are prizes up for grabs as a thank you for your donation. If any of you are able to part with R50 as this month draws to a close, please donate. Sean is currently in Willowmore.
  22. Looks like I'll have to get a number to join the roadie train. The flying V formation would be appreciated up front chaps. Nerves are kicking in for the undulating second half, based on the route profile.
