  1. Congratulations and genuine thanks to all the organisers, sponsors, marshalls and supporters. We are lucky to be able to ride in such an event.
  2. Little1: I accept your viewpoint. It's not a case of high and low roads though. I feel that, as organisers, people have an added responsibility to constantly remind riders to stash their trash and also to set an example. I ride the Swartberg Pass regularly and see too many goo packets to take the middle road on this one Actually I feel more strongly about littering than doping (not that there's any doping in cycling of course...now that should wake up the lunchtime sleepers!)
  3. If the person was one of the organisers, all the more reason to name them. It reflects on the person and the organisers, not the race. NAME THEM
  4. Name them, shame them.
  5. Caffelatex has landed, may it wobble a few pedestals. www.maillotjaune.co.za
  6. Ed Zachary And now I'm going to get back to work.
  7. Bos, I've been riding one for over ten years. Works for me.And I've done some "serious" mountain biking. He also makes one with a longer nose. Worked for Andrew Barnes on the Freedom Challenge. Admittedly they aren't going to win prizes for fashion, but that's not what we're talking about. (or is it
  8. "Bos" You missed the point entirely. The murray saddles are not padded, they're designed to need the absolute minimum. And yes, I'd take Tim Noakes' advice any day.
  9. Saddles are a personal preference. Have a look what Tim Noakes has to say about the matter. http://murraytourdeforce.blogspot.com/
  10. Did you know: Polar wristwatches are all the rage with postal workers. Particularly those who deliver mail by bicycle.... Only joking, the Post Office is actually one institution that works (when not on strike)
  11. This incident should have been reported to the SAPS immediately. Idiots like this old geezer make it increasingly difficult for law-abiding people to own guns. To put it mildly, I'm astounded at the tolerance shown towards this man. If a taxi driver had fired a "warning shot" at a cyclist, would the response have been the same? Come on folks!
  12. As usual, Sheldon has said it all before: Measuring Chain Wear The standard way to measure chain wear is with a ruler or steel tape measure. This can be done without removing the chain from the bicycle. The normal technique is to measure a one-foot length, placing an inch mark of the ruler exactly in the middle of one rivet, then looking at the corresponding rivet 12 complete links away. On a new, unworn chain, this rivet will also line up exactly with an inch mark. With a worn chain, the rivet will be past the inch mark. This gives a direct measurement of the wear to the chain, and an indirect measurement of the wear to the sprockets: If the rivet is less than 1/16" past the mark, all is well. If the rivet is 1/16" past the mark, you should replace the chain, but the sprockets are probably undamaged. If the rivet is 1/8" past the mark, you have left it toolong, and the sprockets (at least the favorite ones) will be too badly worn. If you replace a chain at the 1/8" point, without replacing the sprockets, it may run OK and not skip, but the worn sprockets will cause the new chain to wear much faster than it should, until it catches up with the wear state of the sprockets. If the rivet is past the 1/8" mark, a new chain will almost certainly skip on the worn sprockets, especially the smaller ones.At this stage I think it's time to ride....
  13. Harryn: Whatever it is you need, you ain't gonna find it here. Try www.mydixarisin.com
  14. Harryn: There's probably a fair amount you don't get, but then who am I to judge? For those who do get the doo........... http://www.edsbikes.us Taking things to a new level, drool on. For me? The 1920 29R.
  15. By flying SAA, you are paying for your ticket twice. Once in the form of income tax and once in the form of the ticket. So, if they can get you to pay a third time, they might just break even! johannrissik2009-08-05 01:27:39
  16. Clever solution to the problem. Good job! Those slots in the external BB cup fit the grooves of a 36" bobbejaan spanner perfectly, just beware of the extra leverage.......
  17. Is that little Man United nut cluster meant to be in the shot?
  18. There is only one way to clean a chain properly.. http://sheldonbrown.com/chainclean.html And you can't excommunicate me, it's too late.
  19. Jack Russell? At least it looks like he lifted his leg on the right side of the pillar
  20. The Scott "Lifetime Guarantee" covers the average lifetime of a guinea-pig. It's in the fine print.
  21. Glad you're unhurt. There was a time when this debate would have turned towards an argument on calibres..9mm/.45 But this link may help, maybe even ask the guys to make a handlebar bracket, even looks a bit like a bar-mounted Garmin. http://www.selfdefense.co.za/products.html
  22. That's exactly what sheople are supposed to do, get involved in the "he said, she said" debate. That way the focus is kept off the real issue that so many don't really want to face. DOPE. Keep your eyes on the ball folks.
  23. Does the offer of a free sample still stand? You PM inbox overfloweth.
  24. OK, if you guys are going to stand along the wall, I'll brave the floor. My new singlespeed.... johannrissik2009-06-20 11:44:06
