  1. I don't care why she's doing it, it's important that she is doing it. Sends the right kind of messages. Any other politicos doing the ride ? (someone mentioned Juju on a tricycle, but I think that's bull)
  2. "First SERIOUS race" Don't smile, don't laugh, whatever you do.
  3. Die storie laat my denk aan 'n anner storie waar 'n vlakvark met 'n byl gekap was. I got confused when I saw "Axe" with a capital "A" and assumed it was deodorant.
  4. Way to go. It shows that they care. (And I'm not even a customer of theirs)
  5. In the context it refers to the use of tubeless wheel setups, the term "choobless" being slang. The tubeless topic was being used to hijack or smudge a similar thread https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/112568-just-disappointed-complete-cyclist-hout-bay regarding the Messiah-like re-appearance of a previously "stolen" bicycle. I took the unauthorised liberty of cross-referencing. My apologies Thank you
  6. Won't someone please pm me with the details of this Colnago Messiah? I'm not a potential customer, just a nosy bastard with an eye for an unusual bicycle.
  7. Agree 100%. The World Funride Champs is meant to be a charity fundraiser. Can the medal nonsense, give the money to charity.
  8. Medal? At the end of the Freedom Challenge? uuhh NO. No medals there. Simply a very meaningful Basotho blanket.
  9. Ever so greatful, Guv.
  10. I think you owe it to the bike shop to give them a chance to rectify their mistakes (which we humans can and do make). Often a shop's true level of service can be seen in the way they handle their mistakes. If they failed to respond or rectify, then bring the story here, BUT with details. Your name, their name, pictures, etc. That way there is open communication and no nonsense of people hiding behind pseudonyms. Otherwise it's conjecture and opinion, which is why so many of these threads end up going sideways into the land of popcorn, coffee, choobless and now, muffins. Thank you.
  11. Coffee, biskits, popcorn, choobless and loyalists aside, I'm still fascinated by the Messiah-like re-appearance of said bicycle. Unless it is the subject of a delicate police investigation, out with it. Please.
  12. I'll let these guys do the hexplainin' http://mtbtires.com/...275q-tire-specs because I'm happy with my wheelsize.
  13. No, I think you should go for something with 650b. That way you'd be saved this awful dilemma
  14. If I may just get a word in between the choobless and the popcorn... Having read the OP and the bike shop's response and the other posts, the major outstanding issue is the "theft" and subsequent "discovery" of the bike/frame. That is the major issue, if it's true, it's a major indictment, if false it's a serious allegation. Can both parties not just lay some simple facts on the table and clear this up? Please.
  15. I was asked not to feed the troll. So I won't. Sorry.
  16. No, not what I was implying. Bad workmanship is bad workmanship. My guess is that if they assembled the cranks like that, they also graunched the BB. And I also don't buy the "it's not our colour grease" story. If they rebuilt the bike, why is there still someone else's grease on it? I just smiled at the thought of riding on rollers with a cock-eyed crank. I don't know if I could even manage that. And the laaitie that picked it up is sharp. I'm still smiling at Loop en Val trying to ignore his son..
  17. How many days did you say you rode the rollers like that? Pull the other one, it's the 1st Feb, not the1st of April.
  18. Thank you. Great tip. If I may add one thing. Use a high grade vulcanizing solution on the inside of the tyre. The cheapo stuff some people still use to patch tubes doesn't stick to the inside of a tyre too well or for too long.
  19. For the spectator value. ....and stop bragging
  20. Social Tandems start at about 8. Very civilized. (Or have for the last 3 years at least) If you and your partner click, it's a blast. If not......ooops! That's great start group to be in, lots of interesting old tandems. Look out for the stunning blue Hansom
  21. I think you just answered your own question
  22. The guys are getting too technical.... Shifter, bobbejaan and for the tricky bits, a hammer Jokes aside, Do It. You'll learn and enjoy the process and appreciate the bike much more. Generally, there's not much harm you can do if you place intelligence before force. Enjoy
  23. On the advice of someone on the hub, I had Maryke work out a 13 week programme for me leading up to the Dash. (At the same time I also read through Jon Ackland's "Endurance Training", it was nice to have Maryke's advice confirmed by one of the top people in the world. She had it well worked out, made me work hard, but not so hard that I felt like taking short-cuts. She was there to answer my questions (even the stupid ones) andI felt myself getting fitter and stronger than I have been in ages. The Dash was all the more enjoyable because I was fit. I would not hesitate to recommend her. (And this is entirely unsolicited)
