At the end of the day, Darren, the biggest issue is not what you eat but that you eat continuously. That's my rule, I stick to it off and on the bicycle! and that's also why I need to get on the bicycle...

I go with fast fuel and any sort of energy bars. Make sure you eat throughout your ride and not only when you get tired.

You'll be able to ride, however, it won't be the most exciting ride ever. Tofu only has dirt roads running out towards to old slave memorial and then a mix of tar, well sort of, and dirt roads down to Inhambane and Barra. Everything else is sand... If you do take your bike, get a 50L camelback... During December it averages around 40'C there and almost never drops below 35'C, not even at night! Enjoy!

That is exactly what I want! Looks awesome, doesn't it! The roofrack going across the bin; is that also Thule components that you buy with the bike rack or is that something that you have custom made?

Is there anyone on the hub that has fitted Thule ProRide Roofracks to their bakkie's bins? I want to fit the roofracks on the bin so that I can still use the whole bin when going away for a weekend and fit the bikes above the bin. I know I can just get the towbar carriers but I want to do it this way... just coz I want to! Has anyone done this? Can it work? How does it work? and how much should I expect to pay?

Good race! Massive improvement from Tygervalley! The worst thing about it was when I got to the top of the second last climb (which at that point I thought was the last) and saw the last climb... that just broke me. Enjoyed the route, was quite challenging and the race was well organised. Would've enjoyed more sinlgetrack, however, the lack of it again proved to get rid of heavy congestion. Small price to pay... still a fun route.

Pretty hectic... Today should be interesting, can't see that Cancellara will hold on through the Pyrenees.

Been looking into this as well... My main concern is when going on holiday or a weekend away, I want to be able to take the bikes and still use my bin for luggage. With the bikes in the bin there still is enough space for luggage, however, things like rain and dust will pose a problem. To this extent your best bet is either a tow-bar rack or the Thule ProRides mounted on your bin. For the quick Saturday morning ride, the easiest is still just securing your bike with some good old fashioned rope. If you have a double cab your bike should fit pretty "snuggly" in your bin; just securing the seats and handlebars with rope does the trick for me...

The race was shocking! About as fun as peak time traffic trip on the N1! Clearly Fritz Pienaar is clearly more interested in raking in the cash and pushing in as many people in the field to finance some new price fixing scam... Really poor organising and not limiting the entries was a big mistake. We spent close to an hour standing next to our bikes on the singletrack sections due the congestion. Really frustrating! We struggled to get to the front of the pack as the 60km guys also joined the field which made it very congested and once you were stuck behind a slow bloke you were stuck. The trail was awesome, however, we couldn't ride it due to the bad congestion. This could've been a great race if it was better organised and numbers limited. Spending 40% of your riding time pushing your bike in congested sections is just not acceptable. Unfortunately I already entered for the Diamond rush... After Saturday it'll clearly not be worthwhile to drive out to Cullinan...
