  1. Guys PLEASE note that the race is on the 9th which is a monday and NOT the sunday as the race pamphlets say
  2. check out http://www.obike.co.za/Products/ProductsList.aspx Omnico are the imports of Bell and Giro hope this helps
  3. HI Guys, sorry to hear that you didnt have a great experience at the race! just to clarify 1. when the mtb route was setup it was assumed that all the athletes would be out of the singletrack by the time the front cyclists came back in. As safety is a major concern at any Spectrum sport event this will be taken into concideration for future events. 2. Water points on the cycle leg will be taken into consideration for future events 3. the warm water at the water point will be taken up 4. The issue about the athletes having to pay at the gates has been taken up with the venue owners already as this was never mentioned and seems to be an issue of someone at the gate trying to make a quick buck. once again please accept our apologies thanks for the valuable feedback! without this it is difficult to understand the athletes requirements and were we can improve to give you a better event
  4. water measurerd 23 degrees but an arrangement was made for guys training for iron man that they could have a batch start with wetsuits but with a five minute penalty! i think that this option should be given at all triathlon events! .... working on it!!
  5. and you got to swim with your wetsuit if you chose too! you guys like the idea of giving wetsuit swimmers a batch start?
  6. i carry two bombs and a tube, if you need something else there will always be a good samaritan to help you out im philosophical about mechanicals during a race, if something happens that you cant fix its part of the race, but in all the races i have done, i have had one major mechanical that stopped my race (broken derailleur) i think that if you ensure you have good equipment, make sure you have enough sealant in your wheels and choose your lines wisely you sorted for a race.
  7. wheelsuck if strengthening your immune system is the only way of treating it wouldn’t Beriglobin (Human Immune Globulin) be an option to try? I’m not a doctor but logic says to me that if your immune system is compromised wouldn’t there be a benefit in using ARVs? I have used Beriglobin in the past which helps when your system is down.
  8. Garfield, the buffelspoort race isnt a spectrum race....we just help out
  9. this is the first im hearing of people being pulled off the run. i know that there was one lady that was picked up with about 10 kms to go with five minutes before the cut off. other than that i dont know of anybody? if you have specific details please pm me the details. the cycle route was 80 km as per the long distance(02) ITU requirements. Guys remember this was a ITU sanctioned long distance event and not a WTC 70.3 event hence the difference in distance
  10. agree!
  11. All that happended is Louis told the athletes that he thinks this whole matter was handled very unprofessionaly and that Spectrum did NOT apologise as it was said on TSA website, the reason he said this was TSA made it look like this whole issue was Spectrum sports fault and never apologised for their role in this matter. a TSA official took exception to what was said (dont know why) and tried to take the mic away from Louis. well ja.... then some verbals were exchanged etc etc but in the end a damn good event took place again. so all in all an exciting day on the racing side of things WOW Sylvia Van Tromp blew everybody away on the olympic swim leg, leading out the men and women! i loved the comment from The mens winner Ross Koch " i dont know who that girl is? but boy she can swim" Glen Gore showed he still has what it takes as he was first out of the swim in the Ultra race congrats to all the finishers and all the TSA agegroup medalists results: ultra men Freddy Lampret Gerhard Debruin Phillipe Van Der Leeuw ladies Natasha Gorrie Caroline Koll Lynette Van Der Merwe Olympic men Ross Koch Jacov Lalou Grant Johnson ladies Carol Reeves Sylvia Van Tromp Esmari Goosen
  12. there have been numerous discussions on the hub about costs of races and if you take into consideration that on average R120 of the race fee goes straight to TSA and then you have to pay salaries etc etc so at the end of the day it is not a high profit industry but it does beg the question what we get back from TSA for the amount of money that goes to them?
  13. Guys let me assure you the race will be going on! i will give you more information once i have been cleared to do so
  14. not sure if i have the same one as you? the rubber strap seems to be moulded to the housing? when i bought my second one the jeweler had them on special because sector pulled out of the country for some reason (i bought myself and my mrs one), it will be great if they back. i think sector is the most robust watch i've ever owned! quads, offroads, scuba diving etc etc they just dont break!
  15. i love my Sector! i have two expanders but one of my straps broke and as far as i know it cant be replaced
  16. late adopters us triathletes Mojo.... im sure the field will be full like last year come race day
  17. you will not believe it that on saterday all the water crossings where totaly rideable!! apparently there was one hell of a storm saterday night which caused the water levels to rise, when the routes where checked an hour before the race the water levels where still low, so it was a suprise for everybody when the levels climbed so quickly... but hey what would a mtb race be without getting wet lol!
  18. hey Tyrone it was a lekker race, like you say it was really sad about the incident you mentioned however i believe the guy is okay (no spinal injuries) just a big gash to his leg from his chainring and a possible fracture to his wrist, from what i heard the guy on the motorbike did stop but after being threatened by some mtbers he rode off! generally speaking i think it was a well organised fun race
  19. Rob you can get the pics from http://www.od-event-photographers.co.za rob the current was pretty strong after the turn so dont read too much into it, it was a hard swim for most of us.
