  1. Looking at the rider positions it seems Burry and Christoph have a good gap on the next few riders.
  2. Thanks. Never thought of that !! So I suppose you need to re-slime after a bomb, or top up.
  3. I agree. To make up time on one team can be done, but on a bunch of world class teams, you gonna need a lot o l uck to go your way to catch all of them.
  4. Explain ? What does using a bomb do ?
  5. That's was Songo's problem. Going for the lightest equipment. When they changed last year to slightlu more robust, reliable equipment instead of the lightest, they won with very few mechanical incidents, if any. (other than flats)
  6. Same problem Songo have had over the years. If it wasn't for technical issues and "outside help" they could have won a few more by now.
  7. Yup, looks like it. Burry and Christoph putting time into everybody.
  8. Rabobank at 8min, and 360Life at 17 min.
  9. 36ONE have flown. 3:30 gap on Bulls2 + Stockli. Topeak at 4min, Versluys at 6, MTN, Merida + Bulls1 at 7
  10. Whatever the reasons there is 1 thing to remember.... When your a pro or elite in a racing bunch, the only thing that matters is your placing, and even more so, did you win or not. Time is irrelevant. The rest of the race/ride is a funride where all that matters is the time you rode. So you can't compare the 2. If you wanna race for the win, get into the racing bunch. I do agree it seems an amazing feat to ride that time all by your own.......male or female.
  11. Rode with a guy on the Ghost demo bike a week ago. It was impressive, but it was mostly flat. Generates about 330 watts I believe, so not bad if you adda few hundred more :-)
  12. It's a case of being like ostriches......lets just stick our heads in the sand and all the problems will go away. Why should cyclists sit by while officials steal the cyclists' money ????? I can't say too much as I don't belong to a club or to CSA for the very reasons above. I receive no value from them, and the few races I ride, if I have to pay a day license I do. Funny, more often than not, I don't even get asked.
  13. I could be mistaken, but here is how voting probably works. As a club member you can attend your club's AGM and vote for a comittee. That comittee would then have representation on the Provincial body. At the Provincial level, the various club representatives would vot for the provincial comittee. The Provincial comittee then selects representatives for CSA positions and vote for them. So as an individual, very little influence ultimately on the outcome. And like most bodies, the people on the comittees are usually the 1 or 2 people willing to be involved. 90% of the riders couldn't care. How many cyclists out there actually attend their club AGM ? So in the end, probably a few bullies at the Provincial level, bully others into voting for their "chosen" representative. Now I could have this all wrong ???????????
  14. Serves you right for shopping at Cajees. I had such a bad experience there some years back in Fourways that I vowed I would never shop there again and I'd tell everybody I could at any opportunity not to support them.
  15. He said he was no longer selling 2nd hand bikes at his shop.......... Doesn't mean he can't sell them anywhere else
  16. PM me your contact details. I'll be there in Dec. I usually ride in the Park by myself.(not really allowed)Be good to ride with someone who knows some other areas.
  17. Might not be entirely right, but by that stage there were 50 cyclist all bunched up waiting on the hill for the elephants to move off. In just the place where a Black Rhino and calf had charged through not long before the riders came past. So the possible risk in Rhino, elephant and Lion country with a bunch of cyclists all sitting in the open was probably not an ideal situation. We waited over 1 hour for the elephants to move off.
  18. Not many people admit to coming from Mtubatuba, nevermind those that have never heard of it We have a house in the iSimanganiso Park. Go there as often as possible. Mtubatuba is the local shopping town.
  19. It was an awsome ride. Great route, and yes, hats off to the organisers. As well as to the riders. At some races riders wouldn't accept such changes. See my post https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/106075-only-in-saafrica/ This race is the highlite of my year. Was my 3rd ride.
  20. gtr1

    Boksburg area

Speak to the guys at Cycle Lab. They go on Saturday but from Benoni. On Sunday they do road ride from the shop. Also Finish Line in Kempton. They have rides from their shop on weekends.
  21. By the way.....did you give yourself the name "Heavy Legs" after the riding a race with your brakes rubbing the whole way ????
  22. I could be cynical and say.."serves you right for buying from Cajees" I agree with you about shocking service, but no matter where you take your bike, you should check it before a major ride/race. So in essence, this is all your own fault !!
  23. How do you determine what is illegal/cheating and what is not. There is a list of banned substances and if you get caught using any of them you are deemed to be cheating and are potentially banned. Now if you take something that is not on the list, enhances your performance....is that illegal or cheating. Bjarne Rijs admitted to using EPO when he won The Tour. At the time though, nobody, other than sportpeople and doctors, knew about it and what it's effects were. It was not on the banned substance list. Does that make Bjarne Rijs a cheat ? So the question then is, Lance may have taken PED's over his career along with many other sportspeople. He got tested and found clean. Only thing is, there were no tests at the time for the drug he/they were taking, and as a result, did not appear on the banned list. Does that make you guilty or not guilty ????? I reckon all the good dopers are ahead of the game, taking stuff not yet known about or not yet on the banned list and as a result there is no way to test for it. And as long as there is money in sport, the dopers will stay ahead of the testers. If Lance was so positive about never having doped, he would then allow the authorities to test all his old samples with the latest tests and see what pops up. His defense can then be, well I took supplements but they were not banned. This I think is closer to reality. What if........in a year or 2, some scientific test proves that Energade is performance enhancing.....which it is, what happens to everybody who ever had some in their bottle or had a drink of it ? Also one must question what is "performance enhancing" ? Anything that enhances your performance is performance enhancing. So a recovery drink enhances your performance the next day ??????????? As this would be so difficult to monitor control and test, we get back to the banned list and then, well, did Lance etc cheat or not ??????? By the way, I am not a Lance fan. I just believe that most or all of the cyclists, as well as other top sportspeople, have doped at some stage and will continue to do so. I have seen evidence of it locally in races as well as the cover-up's.
  24. A single speed - Does a track bike count? A 29er - My road bike A rigid fork on your mtb - Still got one, a Kona A full on TT bike - nope An old school, hand built 36 hole set of tubby road wheels - Had those. Gave them away. A road fixie - Does riding a track bike on the rad count ?
