  1. See my post above. Looks like it is not a fine, but to cover the costs.
  2. If you read the rules posted by NINJA, you will see they make provision for recovering the "results management costs" and specify the amount. So it is not a fine. I'm not a lawyer, but we are all probably ignorant, and when we enter a sanctioned event, we accept the rules etc of the governing bodies. In so doing, we have "signed" a contract. And to our detriment, without reading and understanding the consequences. So we become liable. Not that we change the terms, but we could decide not to partake !
  3. I suppose you should look at the UCI rules to see if they specify the fine amount and under what conditions they apply. Essentially when you entered you probably accepted the rules in some form. Then you could possibly plead mitigating circumstances around the fine amount or offer ridiculous payment terms.
  4. Scott mtb 9,5 kg's R 40 000 So R 4 210.53/kg Worth every cent :-)
  5. I assume where this is going is that it should not apply to non-professionals. So we have 2 equally good amateurs. 1 dopes and wins more hence secures a pro contract and the other not. Is that then fair ? I'm sorry, if you dope you are guilty whatever the reasons were. Yes as a middle of the bunch the chance of ever being tested are slim, but as we have seen, not entirely impossible. So take your chances, but take your punishment.
  6. Bottom line is, if a drug is listed as banned, and you take it, it is cheating. Onus on athlete to check banned list, especially as a pro. You can't half cheat because one drug is not as bad as another. Not sure what a genuine mistake is when there is so much info available on what is annex and what is not. If you gona pop a tab, know what is in it. Most flu medication contains banned substances, everyone knows that. So find out what is safe to use.
  7. Down to 250 k's a week on the mtb !!
  8. Dunno about East Rand, but Dr Patricious at Sandton clinic.

    Frank Schleck

Doesn't make sense why you pay him through his suspension and then stop as soon as it's over. I'm sure his contract would have been till the end of the year. I think Becca also had to pay Bruyneel a few million Euros.

    Frank Schleck

Off Cyclingnews. In mid-July, Schleck's one-year doping suspension ended, and he planned to return to RadioShack-Leopard and ride the Vuelta a Espana. However, shortly before the ban ended, Becca announced that he would not re-hire Schleck. He changed his mind along the way and told Cyclingnews on Saturday that hehad made Schleck an offer for the remainder of the season. "With my lawyers, we have made an offer to Mr. Becca,” Fränk Schleck told Lessential.lu. “In response, he made what he believed to be an offer but which we do not feel to be fairt. For us, this proposal is not one. We can not consider it. That is where we are at the moment.”

    Frank Schleck

Becca "fired" him when his doping suspension ended. He then changed his mind and offered him a contract for the rest of 2013 season. Frank doesn't like the new contract. It seems that Frank and Andy will ride for Trek, the new sponsor of the team, next year.
  12. Maybe they should be asked for the definition of scientific ?? I'd love to believe Froome clean, but have had so many disappointments over the years....
  13. Ok, if you're intent on proving me wrong then I'll make it easy for you. I'm wrong. Happy ? IMHO and my perception, as wrong as it may be, a lot more seems to be made about suspicions of doping in cycling than in any other main stream sport. Even when other sports return positives.
  14. Not on Twitter so dunno about Andrew's tweet !
  15. Maybe I'm reading/ watching the wrong media. What I saw was almost matter-of-fact. By the way the 2 were positive, and obviously denied and that was that.
  16. Definitely not making the same headlines as any cycling doping incident or suspicion does. Yet way more high profile.
  17. We should be asking these same questions about Bolt......the fastest man in the world. Especially when he is beating the 2nd and 4th fastest ever who have both had positive dope tests. When I say we, I actually mean the media. Strange they are so quiet !!!
  18. So here's a question. If Richie Porte is found to be positive after his amazing rides up the mountains pulling Chris and setting up the win? That had a major effect on overall result. Should Chris ( or any othe combination of winner and domestique) then be entitled to keep the win ? So your whole team on drugs to kill the bunch, but team leader clean !! Just an interesting thought.
  19. Got goosebumps :-)
  20. Big H, it's not about (faux)morals. I needed a bolt for a child's seat that was missing in the box. Went to Fourways. Didn't have a bolt, so go with 1 of the workshop guys into the workshop to look for 1. Digs an old bolt out of a toolbox that is right size. Owner then wants to charge me R80 for the old used bolt. And this was 8 years ago. When I questioned the cost, he got abusive, started swearing at me. It ended with him telling me to get out of his store. So I did and vowed to never shop there again, and to tell everyone I know how *** they are. So am still doing that. So......just morals. Nothing (faux) about them.
  21. You go into Cajees you get what you deserve !! I don't even drive past one of their shops.
  22. Awesome gutter riding today! That's tougher than a mountain stage. Saxo were fantastic when they split the field with 30 k's to go. Had 6 riders in front group of 14. Race on !!
  23. It is good to see more and more Saffas in the top peletons.
  24. With all the excitement of Daryl getting yellow in Le Tour, it seems that Ashleigh's exploits have gone unnoticed. She has finished in 8th place overall in the ladies Giro. This is a fantastic result. She also had a 3rd place on 1 stage as well as a few top 10 places. This is an awesome result. Well done Ashleigh
  25. I opened my new Johnny Walker Explorers Edition Gold Road to celebrate. Tasted like sweet yellow honey ! :-)
