Speak to the guys at Cycle Lab. They go on Saturday but from Benoni. On Sunday they do road ride from the shop. Also Finish Line in Kempton. They have rides from their shop on weekends.
  2. By the way.....did you give yourself the name "Heavy Legs" after the riding a race with your brakes rubbing the whole way ????
  3. I could be cynical and say.."serves you right for buying from Cajees" I agree with you about shocking service, but no matter where you take your bike, you should check it before a major ride/race. So in essence, this is all your own fault !!
  4. How do you determine what is illegal/cheating and what is not. There is a list of banned substances and if you get caught using any of them you are deemed to be cheating and are potentially banned. Now if you take something that is not on the list, enhances your performance....is that illegal or cheating. Bjarne Rijs admitted to using EPO when he won The Tour. At the time though, nobody, other than sportpeople and doctors, knew about it and what it's effects were. It was not on the banned substance list. Does that make Bjarne Rijs a cheat ? So the question then is, Lance may have taken PED's over his career along with many other sportspeople. He got tested and found clean. Only thing is, there were no tests at the time for the drug he/they were taking, and as a result, did not appear on the banned list. Does that make you guilty or not guilty ????? I reckon all the good dopers are ahead of the game, taking stuff not yet known about or not yet on the banned list and as a result there is no way to test for it. And as long as there is money in sport, the dopers will stay ahead of the testers. If Lance was so positive about never having doped, he would then allow the authorities to test all his old samples with the latest tests and see what pops up. His defense can then be, well I took supplements but they were not banned. This I think is closer to reality. What if........in a year or 2, some scientific test proves that Energade is performance enhancing.....which it is, what happens to everybody who ever had some in their bottle or had a drink of it ? Also one must question what is "performance enhancing" ? Anything that enhances your performance is performance enhancing. So a recovery drink enhances your performance the next day ??????????? As this would be so difficult to monitor control and test, we get back to the banned list and then, well, did Lance etc cheat or not ??????? By the way, I am not a Lance fan. I just believe that most or all of the cyclists, as well as other top sportspeople, have doped at some stage and will continue to do so. I have seen evidence of it locally in races as well as the cover-up's.
  5. A single speed - Does a track bike count? A 29er - My road bike A rigid fork on your mtb - Still got one, a Kona A full on TT bike - nope An old school, hand built 36 hole set of tubby road wheels - Had those. Gave them away. A road fixie - Does riding a track bike on the rad count ?
  6. I know of a few guys from Benoni who ride like girls
  7. This is great news. Just read in Cyclingnews that Darryl Impey has got a ride with Netapp from the end of the month. "Daryl Impey will return to the European peloton with Team NetApp. He is expected to make his debut with the German Professional Continental team at the end of this month at Bayern Rundfahrt" There was a thread a few weeks ago speculating on the future of some of the ex-european riders from SA. Hopefully more to follow. Thumbs up for MTN for releasing him immediately
  8. Hi I am wondering if there are any organised MTB rides or group rides around the Bela Bela area this weekend - 30 April. I'll be in the area for the long weekend.
  9. They sell them to raise funds to support their doping programme
  10. Are they 26" or 29" tyres ?
  11. Years ago (before slime) I rode tubbies. Used to fix the punctures. Never thought of replacing a whole tube. The thought of stitching an entire tubbie would be too much to contemplate. Becomes an expensive hobby
  12. Does that mean you throw them away when you get a puncture ?
  13. Which lube you use all depends on whether you're riding a 26'er or a 29'er I suppose it may even depend on whether you ride with lycra shorts or baggy shorts
  14. Rode there in Dec. Only had 1 day and I also did the yellow route. Was amazing. Great hot shower after and breakfast. Good coffee. Only complaint was that bikewash was a bit expensive after also paying for the ride.
  15. So what do you do if you're the size of a garden gnome who wants to race ??
  16. SO.......who's going to meet them at the airport when they arrive back ??????
  17. Didn't help Andy !!!! Or maybe it did....he may not have kept up otherwise
  18. Met Liezel in a LBS a year or 2 back. Had no idea who she was. Just a pleasant looking blonde. Oh, and nice legs. She was friendly, had a chat about the bike she was getting and she chatted away to my 9 year-old daughter about dancing and girlie things. Definately no airs about having been on tv etc. Found out who she was afterwards.....but still didn't know her. So in a nutshell, she wasn't much different, maybe more pleasant, than most the girls and guys I mite meet in the LBS. TheHub is a bit harsh to these non-professional/recreational cyclists. Lets not forget, they make up the numbers in the races that enable the rest of you/us to say how well you/we did relative to the number of entries. 100th out of 100 in the Argus would sound quite ***.
  19. Memories...... When it came out and was showing at te local cinema, we used to ride on rollers in front of the screen before the movie started to promote cycling. One of the S-Tvl officials gave a short talk about cycling while this went on. I used to have the polystirene promotion poster stuck up on my wall at home. Those were the days.......
  20. Last Christmas my wife bought me a set of American Classic mtb wheels for racing
  21. Hi. Bit of a hijack. I ride a small 16" hardtail. I like a fairly racey position, so not so upright on the bike. ( the roadie in me) Can this work with a 29'er in a small frame. I see some manufacturers don't even make smalls. What are the chances of getting a racier position on the 29'er or will it be very upright ? The question then becomes, does a small rider rather go for a 26" Dual ? Once again sorry for the hijack, but a dilemma I am also having.
  22. None of you have obviously read the 32GI threads ????
  23. They should have allowed callers to ask him questions. He was a tjop and said nothing. Took him a week to memorise his Charles Dickens lines to avert the attention from the actual issues. Who cares about the best of times when you've just experienced the worst of times. So whoopee, riders will get entry fee back. How about their expenses to go to a ride that was a f%$# up.
  24. I agree. You wanna be a pro, get a license and race with the pro's. The rest get seeded normally and race against each other in their respective groups. I also have no problem with the sponsored teams all riding together with the pro's. But there should be a max number per team eg 5. After a while the teams will look for better talent if they have riders who can't maintain, or if they want results. That way you'll have a better spread of talent and more competitive teams over time, rather than the 2, maybe 3 competitive teams you get now.
