    mtb pedals

Hey peeps, thanx for all the advice! When my dad said i can get new pedals my first thoughts were also "jippieeee...eierklitsers!" But they were a bit out of my price range Hmmm...so went to my LBS, told the oom what all you lovely peeps said, so he showed me some of the pedals, gave me the pro's and cons. And as i was there with my mtb and mtb shoes (which has cleats that fit most of the pedals) he gave a few to try and see what i like. Decided on the "RYDER spdBipedals" they looked good and clipping in/out was best and the allowed float was also the most comfortable. Marked price - R340, got them for R280 (...and you still ask why i love oom Johan so much!) Aluminium body, and weigh 300g. I'll try to load some photos now.
  2. Hmmmm...you guys just convinced me to stock up on my white socks collection... Watch out boys......I'm bringing socks and slops back!
  3. I would go absolutely crazy! Sorry, i don't think i'd want to live in a vegetative state. I can't think how it would feel to not be able to move or do anything for yourself. I love independence, and that would just be like murder. My sport helps for stress relief and it's what makes me happy, makes me want to get out of bed at 5am and what makes me want to smile every day. If that's taken away...i really don't know
  4. Hey...no one would be able to miss me....
  5. Heheheh...nah...just joking, i've never owned crocs - although half of my team mates have those. But now that you mention the white and orange...maybe i should consider buying some afterall!
  6. Hey...i see the MET train's leaving with our social team - cool!
  7. Hahaha, i like Delgado's story! Personally i think longer white socks look really cool! Had a pair of Anatomic ones that i got for my birthday a few years back, and quickly got to be my favourite socks which i wore for every race. Somehow they managed to get lost quite some time ago, so when i needed socks in Bloem before SA's (i somehow forgot to pack in three pairs) i went down to Mud's shop and bought me some "PRO" ones (that's the brand by the way) - really cool! And i don't think it's to hide a "lack of calves" as someone commented - geez...when a guy's got nice calves those socks just make them look better. Oooh...en Spidey...ek ken hom nie persoonlik nie, maar ek hoor so via the grapevine dat Whitesox nogal nie te stadig is nie hoor...

    mtb pedals

    *BUMP*
  9. Okay, so who actually won?
  10. awwww that sucks Wolverine. Had almost the exact same distance on the clock with the 2006 Argus when someone decided to wreck my frame for me, so know how you feel! But this is exactly why i don't take these big races up so seriously anymore. Most people work towards these races for the whole year then just to be disappointed by something like this. To me the Argus is one big circus and i'm just there to enjoy it no matter what happens, ride as hard as i can and joke around when i don't feel like working.
  11. Okay...so i'm quite sure it's been asked before - so bite me okay? I'm in the market for new mtb pedals - had lower than bottom of the range, so just looking for an upgrade. Looking for something that's easy to clip in, so that i don't have to ride with one leg for some amount of time before i eventually find the right side of the pedal where the cleat goes in. And not too expensive (my bike's worth about R2700 - so ja) thanx in advance
  12. Hahaha WH en Velo - dis nog nie erg wat julle hier gesien het nie - probeer regtig met hom oor Mxit chat - later is enige woord waaraan jy moontlik kan dink maksimum 3 letters!
  13. Usually i just smile and wave, then shake my head when they're speeding off in the distance. Sad actually - lots of unhappy people all around while we're doing what we love and just enjoy being out on the road. Maybe they should just wind down their windows and get a bit of fresh air - might do them a bit of good. But luckily we don't have much of that around here, good thing of small towns - most (not all, but the vast majority) are nice people just going along their way and show respect towards us. What does get to me is this two people in our training group - they insist that cars can go around them when they ride almost on the flippen white line! We tell them that it's dangerous and irresponsible over and over again, but they don't seem to listen. Then at a coffee stop (after one particular training ride where 15 of the 20 sat all the way to the middle of the road when there was a lovely yellow lane where 3 people can ride next to each other) i just told them that it is way too dangerous and finally got them to agree. The offenders listen to us a bit more now, but still has that old nack when they're not reminded constantly
  14. Ohhhhhhh ja...forgot that you were moving here. Would be cool to see you peeps more often! But ja true...i have no hang-ups whatsoever with my Orbea's
  15. Fair enough Mampara - will maaaaaaaaybe look into that once i paid off my TT wheel (oh ya...that's the only other carbon i own - mavic 3G) but it's still more than 3 times what my normal ones cost.
  16. well bummer - just my luck that the hub wasn't around in my Trek years...*sigh* Oi IanJ...you guys have any contacts here in the CT/Boland area?
  17. where do i apply for friends like that?
  18. Also not a big carbon fan...i have a carbon fork (which i think is necessary on a road bike) and my stays are also carbon which is fine, but all in all i love aluminium, either full alu or a carbon-alu mix, don't think i'll swich to full carbon anytime soon. As for; carbon bottle cages - those normal RavX ones (+/-R40??) are a bit heavier, but they're still working while quite a few of my friends have had to replace their carbon goodies (@ around R200 a piece) when the little thingy at the bottom broke off and their bottles are falling through. carbon stem - the Richie Pro Comp works just as well and i quite like the look of it carbon cranks - well........if it's campag maaaaaaaaaybe i'll go for it, but i liked the old campy look more carbon seatpost - i've got one on my mtb, not bad, and actually looks good as the only carbon part on my mtb, but i didn't like it on my road bike same goes for most other things...
  19. Now you tell me??? Geez...if i knew that i could still have happily been riding my TREK 1000................. Grrrrr...i'm stomping off to the people who told me that NOW and showing them this!
  20. Wanna bet?? If you have to compare the two I think Mbeki's way more intelligent and has a bit higher standards, my opinion. Oh wait...he's backing Zuma all the way....great! I just can't see how so many people can still think that he can be a leader of a country after the whole rape case. Class hey...real class.
  21. Oh...wat het hy ges?? Nope, kon nie vanoggend luister nie...het daai tyd lekker my naels sit en kou net so voor die Skeinat vraestel uitgedeel word
  22. Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaahaha!!! Anyone listen to Whackhead in the mornings? Think he should give old Zuma a call...
