  1. Maybe it will look cool when built - anyway, the only opinion that matters is yours but rest assured on here you'll get opinions
  2. I've now had 3 bikes painted by them including an outstanding purple pyga - I think it's great value and the service has been excellent but I'd rather not quote on their behalf - I'm sure Justine 083 357 4368 would be happy to let you know or carbonbicyclerepairs.co.za
  3. Don't have a great before shot but you get the general idea of the upgrade
  4. Today I got a new paint job - another outstanding job from CBR in Durbanville - my brief was army green and said "hey maybe Cammo" - This is what I got and I'm blown away
  5. the Open is still "fat" and will be down to 7.6kgs by the end of the month but it will still have me on it
  6. definitely not close to sub 3's - 345 and my only other event that would qualify me is a decent 50km knysna Mtb - like I said I will keep left
  7. A sub 4 argus seems to result in an A batch start for this event - this is not fact, I just know 3 old guys who did their first Argus this year and that's the only way they could have been seeded in A (I'm counting myself in the 3) I will keep left
  8. I'm always curious to know how a 3 week strike causes a 2/3 month delay - I've been waiting for a Colnago stem sent from the UK by a friend that arrived in SA 3rd June - apparently that container has yet to be opened. On the plus side I have some nice stuff from R2 and starbike that could arrive anytime, and long after the pain of the expense has disappeared. These days you can pay off the card before the goods arrive
  9. I posted this build about a month ago and was interested to know the year it was built - not much of a Colnago registry out there but it has a serial number on it and I emailed Colnago in Italy - I got an auto response saying they were shut for the month, gotta love the Italians - anyway, yesterday they emailed me to tell me it's the original colour and was manufactured in 1997 - pretty cool how amazing this 31 year old bike rolls
  10. I'm waiting for some really good stuff from them (R2) so I can post my very, very lightweight but practical hardtail build. I'm tempted to post as is because I'm so pleased but I will be patient. Unfortunately SAPO really don't want me to have a light bike in a rush. Nothing like getting hammered on the exchange rate followed by a swift kick to the nuts courtesy of the state
  11. R2 bike use DHL paket which connects with SAPO, sadly I know this as they stock some special products which got to SA in 3 days. But I've been waiting over a month so far. I bought something else from them, sent my courier and entire process was 8 days
  12. I saw guys doing this doing this on mountain bikes in a gravel race in Swellendam. If you're riding in my league wtf are you doing sitting on the top tube and holding your forks?
  13. Was just thinking the same thing - my "lightweight" is titanium and my heavywieight a master - The beauty about riding these is that aerotuck never comes into the equation. Fortunately, because I'm fairly certain I'd crash. But good to know that should I want to move up from the middle of the pack, I can aero
  14. Peter Sagan is cool agreed Peter Sagan wears lycra agreed The wearing of lycra is not why he's cool. Running spikes are not cool, Usain Bolt is, headbands not cool, Federer is. Men in lycra discussing what may or may not be cool is the very definition of irony - I even look for what I deem cool riding gear and my wife and daughter laugh at me. Our bikes are cool, being healthy is cool but our outfits are not. But hey, if you think you look cool, that's cool. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, maybe coolness too
  15. The irony of men in Lycra discussing what’s cool and not cool
  16. Nakoota just for clarity I wasn’t referring to you - your stuff was perfect - Cippo sent me a link to a crank because the red on mine is giving him sleepless nights ????
  17. This is a another thread on its own - as a guy who has safe access to a 450km forestry gravel network I can confirm that gravel bikes are a fun hoax if you have money to burn - in my opinion and experience - just sold my beautiful fun gravel bike because a hardtail works better and faster (for me)
  18. it really doesn't bother me at all Cippo - if i was doing it right then this groupset shouldn't even be on the bike - As an aside, I have bought from that seller before, very pleasant dealings but not sure how much knowledge he has as the "perfect" cassette had to be replaced. Was a good deal and I don't hold him responsible. Seller of the mixed super record was completely above board and the stuff works beautifully - maybe one day I will sort out the crank but I'm not a roadie and somehow now have to ride 2 colnagos and the bike that shall not be mentioned. Time to stop spending - A few months ago I didn't know what Colnago was and Campy was stuff that didn't work on mountain bikes. Now I'm bankrupt
  19. this 25% thing is close to spot on on this bike
  20. Super Record 11, mixed set bought off Nakoota for a very fair price - now he wants them back with the frame attached - funny thing about this build, if I break it up like this; wheels, groupset, small bits like handlebars etc, then the centrepiece being the frame was the cheapest component - bit like the frame and canvas costing more than the Mona Lisa
  21. There you go, decal changed, saddle matching, and even some orange valve caps
