  1. +1 for what Mecnic said. Cape Cycles system is the local Sram distributor. Contact Terry Muller, he's the bloke in charge, well last time I checked anyway. He's sure to sort you out. tmuller@capecycles.co.za
  2. Very Nice!
  3. Nice bike, if you're gonna be riding through traffic might a front brake not be a good idea?
  4. No that's where the taxis drive.
  5. No offense taken, my statement was meant with a humorous note attached. Obviously the sarcasm didn't translate. No worries.
  6. No worries. I think TCRCarbon was actually selling a set for 400 bucks.
  7. Ah missed that Next time I'll read the post properly.
  8. Racer X

    XTR VS. XO

Its not a rumour a 2 x 10 XTR groupset is set for release in the last quater of 2010. XTR 9spd will fall away and be replaced by 2 x 10 and 3 x 10 options.

    XTR VS. XO

It doesn't really matter. Both makes provide excellent shifting. I prefer Sram because of Gripshift.

It's a case of whether you prefer vanilla ice cream or chocolate.
  11. 60 grand 90 grand. Wouldn't pay either for a set of white Rocket Rons
  12. The only way you can get hold of a pair of those Ron's is to buy a 90 grand Spark LTD, or is that the RC. Most tyre companies produce once off batches of coloured tyres for pro teams. Maxxis went orange for Maxxis/ Rockymountain, (well when they were Maxxis/ Litespeed anyway), Conti did some green and orange units for Topeak/ Ergon and Schwalbe went white for Swiss Power/ Scott. Scott presumably then paid Schwalbe a large amount of money to get some white units for their top end Spark and Scale models. In essence a marketing/ sales gimmick. The only aftermarket tyres that spring to mind and are white are Geax. They produce white Suagaro, (or how ever it's spelt). Available, each, at most LBS's for the price of two standard 13" car tyres.
  13. Is Boonen riding for Astana now? Sorry abit behind with, "who's where and riding what." That kit is all screwed up, apart from the massive colour clashes I see that Specsh gets a fairly large amount of exposure where as Merckx is getting diddly squat. Comes accros as a but weird given that they, Merckx, are the frame sponsor. Presumably Specialized is pumpping alot of money into the team?
  14. Darnijl, if you're looking at making freinds then maybe a change in tact is required?? As to your problem. You're right the coil is made out of steel and therefore can't be anodised, which if it were titanium or aluminium would be the obvious solution. Powder Coating creates quite a brittle finish so I would not go that route either as the continuous compression would cause the finish to flake off. I would buy an automotive spray paint, K2 I think its called, and spray it on after applying a primer. I don't imagine it to be a permanent solution but I reckon it'll do for a few months at which point you can simply re apply. Hope that helps.
  15. Looks awesome, like the seatpost especially, really suites the bike's look.
  16. Your brake resivoirs, (spelling) may be over filled thus causing your pads to hit the rotors, try bleeding your brakes.
  17. Methylated Spirits is the cheapest solution as far as I am aware.
  18. Ja, If I had the money I buy an SL DLR. RRP is insane though around 15K with out any mods.
  19. Nothing to weird there. In all probability, (if thats a 1 1/8" head tube) what the guy has done is as follows: Bought an aftermarket alu steerer tube, shimmed the clamps and converted the whole set up from 1.5 " to 1 1/8". There are also companies, ie Project 321 and many small European machinists, who produce aftermarket kits to reduce the steerer tube diametre. The main attraction of using Leftys is their super linear spring rate and their insane lightness. Top end Lefty SL DLR weighs 1100 and something grams with out any modifications.
  20. I run an Ultegra cassette with my Chorus transmission. While I admit its not quite a fast as using a Campy cassette I find that in general its really not an issue, (for me) as while riding on the road I don't really notice it.
  21. BBB clear frame protection patches.
  22. Awesome, that bike runs a full XT drivetrain right? What were the parts upgraded too?
  23. Like Techguy put it, its personal. I went from a 600 mm flat bar to a 685 mm wide, low rise, riser bar. Will never go back to a flat bar. The width of my Easton gives me much more confidence on rocky technical terrain and I find climbing up rooty rocky easier due to the increased leverage. Again its personal.
  24. Not for Alpine stage racing.. http://www.wheelbuilder.com/store/wood-rims/
