  1. Bleach. And the Camelback cleaning brush which you can stick all the way down the tube. For the outside I just hose it down.
  2. No contest really. Clinchers have LOWER rolling resistance than tubbies. And who wants all the hassle of gluing tubbies anyway?
  3. Some really good advice above. Try moving your saddle forward a little, or raise your bars. That will reduce the angle at your hips and might provide some relief for your hammies.
  4. My favourite are the expensive Vermarcs. The ones with the red chamois.
  5. The wear on the tyres?!!! That's a new one. Find another bikeshop.

    Anthem X1

Just ordered my X1. Should arrive this week and I'll have it built up by early next week. Can't wait!
  7. If your bike is veering to the side when you take your hands off the bars, then your headset is probably pitted. Meaning that your steering will effectively lock in a certain direction (straight ahead). This could also be responsible for your nervous cornering as the bike will want to steer in a direction a little different from the one you're pointing it in.
  8. Its about time I took my MTB for a fork and rear shock service. I'm running a 5th Element at the rear and Manitou Skareb at the front. Which shops in Cape Town can service these things properly without messing it up? My previous experiences are mixed, so I want to get it done right first time this time. Thx.
  9. Harsh but true. I get tired of having to wade through crap to read something useful. If one doesn't have something constructive to add, then rather not say anything.
  10. The Crow - are you importer, shop or just a lunatic fan? Is there a decent dual-sus in the range? That hardtail is pretty and all, but my old bones need a shock at the back too.
  11. ... and a random selection of drugs
  12. I'm sorry JB, but where did I make any judgement? I said "FWIW" (for what its worth).
  13. FWIW, I've had my PT (with Open Pro rim and DT Revolution spokes) for just over 2 years now. I've broken 2 spokes in that time. I train and race on them.
  14. I'd get the powertap before the wheels. And your coach will love you for it, cos he can see if you're sticking to the training program.
  15. What a dumb comment! Using a particular piece of equipment, or training in a certain way doesn't (unfortunately) change your natural cycling ability. Whether a non-powertap user can beat a powertap user is completely irrelevant. You shouldn't be riding so hard on your coffee ride anyway
  16. BMP doesn't promote Powertap specifically, although you can buy them from their website. BMP is more about promoting training with power. Powertap just happens to be the most affordable serious option, so its popular.
  17. The SC ProLite in the pic above comes in at about 200g for a 30.9 350mm
  18. Welcome to the hub - One sensible piece out of advice per 10 posts is about par for the course. Your shoes could be poked, or your bike position could be incorrect. Go to a reputable bike store and have them check your position on the bike. If your position is ok then it might be time to consider new shoes, or pay a visit to a physio that specialises in cyclists.

  20. Really?! So there is no measurable performance benefit to deep section wheels? The reduced power required to drive a more aerodynamic wheel is not maybe part of the reason? Maybe in your bunch-riding you never spend any time at the FRONT of the bunch where the benefit would most definitely be felt. What are all those time-trialists and triathlete's thinking? niterider2008-09-14 22:54:03
