  1. You buy Canyon directly from www.canyon.com. That's why they are such good value - no distributor infrastructure and other nonsense.
  2. How relaxed you looking for? Here's a few options, more-or-less in increasing order of relaxedness http://www.santacruzbicycles.com/highball http://www.cannondale.com/2013/bikes/mountain/hardtail/trail-sl/trail-sl-3 http://www.trekbikes.com/za/en/bikes/mountain/cross_country/superfly/superfly_al_elite http://bansheebikes.com/paradox http://www.diamondback.com/mason-mountain-29er
  3. Thomson Masterpiece. Your bike deserves it.
  4. Thanks Johan, I'll see if I can have a look at the axle.
  5. I've got a Powertap 2.4 SL hub that seems to have died. I thought it was the battery that was flat, but trying 2 different sets of new batteries hasn't resulted in my Garmin picking up the hub any more. Before I send it off to Jhb to get looked at, is their anyone in the Milnerton/Table View area that has a working Powertap 2.4 that I can try test with? I want to see if its a battery issue or not. Any other suggestions welcome.

  8. I'll play too... You could also get a full Dura-Ace bike like this one - https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/40532-schwinn-peloton-ltd-dura-ace-size-m/
  9. I'm using a Garmin 500, no problem on Mac, either with Garmin's software or with Golden Cheetah, which I use instead of the Garmin software.
  10. I have just such a Cinder Cone, in baby-poo brown, circa 1994. Great bike, I even rode the 2004 Epic on it. Currently built up as a touring bike though.
  11. Ride laps at Majik forest and hillcrest. 3 or 4 laps, 2-3 times a week, and you'll be sorted.
  12. R57k? They're nuts. I put a new chain and cassette on before the start of the Epic and gave the bike a good clean. Apart from some chainlube, that was it until the end of the race. Some people over-complicate things.
  13. Come guys, this book isn't going to happen unless you pledge. $50 gets you a copy of the book. And to those of you moaning about stolen bikes... well, you're just completely missing the point.
  14. Did mine in 3 weeks before Epic in 2005. Was advised not to have an op. My shoulder was ok for Epic, but was stiff and sore when cold for about a year. Seems to be fine now, although the shoulder hangs a little lower than the other one.
