  1. Conti Ultrasports used to be good tyres. They used to have the thickest rubber in the range since they were also marketed as indoor trainer tyres. Then Conti brought out their yellow indoor tyre and changed the Ultrasport. It now has a lot less rubber, and although well priced, is not very puncture proof at all. IMHO, you can't go wrong with any of the top-end tyres: Conti GP4000, Schwalbe Ultremo, Michelin Prorace. I race and train on Kenda Kaliente's. Lightweight and very puncture proof.
  2. Take them back and swop for 10-speed. These will NOT work. Nick.
  3. Fruit juice is generally not recommended as exercise fuel because fructose can cause stomach probs. I'm no exercise scientist, but my understanding is that while you're exercising you won't get blood sugar spikes, since any simple sugars will go straight into performing work. Hence the reason you see riders in the TDF drinking coke. Cheers Nick
  4. Great seminar. Thanks Bikemax! I learnt quite a few things about WKO+. And the pro numbers were pretty inspiring.
  5. Definitely not over-rated. By far the best organised and most intense event I've ever participated in. Am I bummed I didn't get in for 2008? Yes. Am I relieved? Yes.
  6. Sorry, you're right. Mine's a Peloton Ltd. Full Dura-Ace and Ritchey carbon bits.
  7. Also got one. Nice bike - the frame is light and pretty comfy. The parts spec is good too, there's nothing you'll want to upgrade, eg Ritchey Carbon bars and Ksyrium ES wheels. Excellent value at the price. I'm VERY happy with mine.
  8. Exactly! A lighter wallet too!!
  9. Great! Then I'd have saved 50g
  10. Why not?

Unfortunately the City guys aren't doing the trip this year
  12. Once you've started using a powermeter you won't give HR a second glance. Its redundant and tells you very little.
  13. Me and the missus did two weeks in France in 2002 (http://www.nickcoyne.com/eur02/), and two weeks in Italy in 2004 (http://www.nickcoyne.com/eur04/). In France we mostly camped, in Italy we did a combo of camping and hotels. Both times completely self-sufficient with panniers and the kitchen sink. Dec 2006 we did an organised tour in Thailand, with a van carrying our stuff. Much easier!
  14. Also got a flow. Nice trainer.
  15. Popeye, you're missing the point. Riders who didn't break any rules were disqualified. And the officials can't/won't explain why.
