  1. Some of the best riding I've ever done is in Swaziland!! If you set up a base at Mlilwane you can ride til your heart is content - or until you throw up... Ride up to the fire lookout - it's well worth the climbing... We are heading to Mlilwane in Easter for a 4 day training camp - Can't wait!!!
  2. +1 on the helmet... Just got a new one from Specialized under their crash replacement policy. 30% of the price...thanks to Summit cycles for their help..
  3. You can get the black quick link off. You can do it the difficult way using a pair of long nose pliers, or you can do it the easy way by buying the quicklink pliers (about R80 at the LBS or CWC) Edit: spelling
  4. My opinion... XTR - Top class, but not really worth the extra money when XT are more than capable of producing good stopping power. If money is not an issue - go for them -they look great! XT - Hands down winner - They are not much heavier than XTR and cost a lot less. SLX - Nothing wrong at all.
  5. I think the police also deserve huge praise & thanks!! They seem to have responded to the info in the fastest possible manner and also made sure the bastard didn't escape. We always knock the police for not doing enough - so lets give credit where it is due!!!
  6. Ridiculous - He should be banned for life!
  7. Those are some sweet arm warmers right there!!!
  8. Just got back from a Thaba ride... Wendell - you have done a great job!! Started on Impala then Abraham, Yafta, Twin towers (halfway up) Firestation & back through the new single track. The best ride in JHB IMHO!!!!!
  9. +1 to that order
  10. I ordered from CRC last week Friday & my order was delivered to my door this Wednesday!! Pretty impressive service & delivery IMHO...
  11. Well done - now you're the one that sounds like a Douchebag... You don't think your tone smacks of arrogance?
  12. Hi Wendell I rode at Thaba yesterday for the first time in about 4 months. I have to say that you have done an absolutely fantastic job on those trails!!! They were very challenging and in 90mins you get an amazing amount to riding in & it doesn't feel like you're in JHB. The Amos trail was superb!! If anyone in JHB is looking for a challenging ride, with technical stuff thrown in the mix---head to Thaba - you won't be disappointed...
  13. I agree with you whole heartedly - It is ridiculous how people view it a sin to be successful. They don't like it when your flashy stuff is more shiny than theirs... I only mentioned the nice car to indicate that the local agents seem to be doing alright. I wonder who makes the better margin - The local agents or the LBS?
  14. And what makes my comment 'ignorant' ?
  15. I just placed an order on CRC this morning for about 7 different items... XT pedals were - R550. Cheapest here is CWC - R800 LBS were R940 If the prices locally were closer to CRC then I would not go through the hassle of ordering from CRC. If the pedals had been say R650-R680 then I would have bought locally. Everything is just business...The owner of Coolheat (Shimano +other brands) does drive a nice Porsche though which I don't have a problem with at all...It just shows that there is room for some price adjustments at our local level...
  16. Edit- duplicated
  17. Well that's the last time I go to Northcliff cycles... Liam- you're a plonker.
  18. What a well written letter - Makes you think how incompetent UCI have been in this whole debarcle. Wander what will come of it though...???
  19. I rode the Cullinan MTN race a couple of years back and just before we rode through the sheer rock wall/ tunnel - there was a resort that the route went through... Does anyone know the name of the place & has anyone ever stayed there? Is it worth a dirty mtb weekend trip?
  20. Wendell - well done on your medal in Manchester!!!! Can Justin & myself join you if we promise to behave??
  21. Riders were in the wrong - how can anyone on here now try and moan about the OP??
  22. Clear'ish' skies overhead Rietvlei now...hopefully the ground in soaking up the water nicely & tomorrow will be prime riding conditions!!!
  23. I'm in - Spez with gold cobalt wheels
  24. She's built for comfort - not for speed...
  25. Dude - Don't joke about stuff like that...Last week a guy in Cape Town that was selling his BMW on Gumtree was abducted & murdered by the "buyers"!! It's a sick world we're living in. Be careful...
