  1. That's why he quit as far as I can figure - the top level of the organisation is vrot and he can't get anything done. I wonder how far the Pilots Association is going to take it - they have threatened to strike. Perhaps that might be a good thing, Something has to substantially change, the procession of CEO's, CFO's etc is a charade.
  2. But surely getting newer more economical aircraft for the long hauls would make business sense, even if they are short term leased? Not that decisions are being made by common business sense there or in any other SOE .. in my opinion, the abyss will just get deeper as long as BEE is the criteria for employing people and appointing contractors, which inevitably ends up in cronyism, corruption, and a host of other destructive issues. I would start by frog-marching most if not all of the management on a one way trip out of the building, and start from scratch, and get the right people to do the jobs, regardless of colour, creed or gender,, And besides that A350 is a lovely bird, must be a treat to fly.
  3. Well sorry for people loosing their jobs but corporate greed usually ends up eating itself.
  4. It's got beautiful lines - I think its my fav looks-wise. They managed to sell a few to India I think.
  5. Verbotten in my part of the Republiek!. Bearded men in black coats and top hats set the moral code along the lines of a 16th Century detached interpretation of the bible (in which black people didn't feature)
  6. There was exactly one shop in Benoni that stocked said FL's - not that we ever got to use them that much in the sexually repressed East Rand.
  7. Yes the later generations like the 350 and 787 have extensive electrics in place of hydraulics, that tech is already here and mature but electric propulsion .. the motors are here (instant torque, little or no maintenance, no noise), the problem is energy storage, ie batteries. I am also thinking regen - like being able to recycle energy when dropping levels, instead of air brakes, and even wheel brakes.
  8. Electric is coming! Quite a few on show at Paris as we speak....
  9. Quite possibly they cleaned him up for the shot in that regard, take your fake news speculation somewhere else, like facebook.
  10. That bring back memories of censored mammaries and growing up in a sexually repressed society.
  11. JustPlanes just posted this clip of a Fluffy (737-200) aprroach and landing into Alaska - stunning! FlightSim - ja regret to say I go back to the DOS version and green CRT screens, it was useful when I was learning to fly, to practice procedures, like spin recovery. You could actually get its Cessna sim into a spin: stall and then a kick of the rudder if I remember correctly. I got every subsequent version and have FSX on my home theater PC and occasionally load it, but its does not really give you the thrill of the controls, although this new version seems to have take the graphics to the next level.
  12. He lost 2l of blood in that accident - serious stuff. Luckily medical help was close at hand.
  13. Wishing Chris a expeditious recovery and fondest thoughts and wishes to all his family, hard to believe his racing career might be over Just the other day he was klapping Cobo at the Vuelta, if he wasn't being held back to support Brad he would have taken it fair & square anyway.
  14. Some fun crosswind landings recently from Schipol Always love to see that rudder flapping in the breeze
  15. And not to forget man main Rodg the Dodg on Skillbuilder; a plumber by trade but seems to get into all sorts of other projects and trades. Ol'e Blighty could do with more Poms like them.
  16. Robin is top bloke - good presenter and even better chippie! they share a lot on that channel, I really like their approach and there is a load of useful content on there. They put me on to the oscillating multi tool and impact driver - both of which have become indispensable in my arsenal.
  17. That schedule might not include his CX schedule - I am sure that its a given that he will do the full season, which only really kicks off in October in the EU
  18. Where are you advertising? Keen to see what you have & asking prices.
  19. OMG how can I ever forget her performance in "Cat People'? Bowie soundtrack to boot
  20. Came across this YT channel, amazing work
  21. GCN has been free web casting quite a lot of the CX events. World Cups are broadcaast by the UCI on YouTube but there are region 'issues' which can be overcome.
  22. From what I heard/read his main goal is Olympic 2020 glory. The road race is not for him and CX not on the list, so XCO is what he is targetting. Although there are lobbies to have CX included in the Winter Olympics its still way off. He is already on the Dutch Olympic team, I am sure he will stick around for the UCI season. Then another full winter of dominating CX? Does this man know any limits?
