  2. Die muishond views DC as a Sunday coffee ride, he is also know to keep the perfect pace line, ALONE!
  3. Die Muishond did the Epic on a Raleigh brought from Marko, he got a podium in the mixed category, solo!
  4. What pace is the twitter ride done at?
  5. Guys off topic a bit and probably on the wrong thread but since this does relate quite directly to 94.7 I thought I would post here. Nirvana for cyclists in joburg aka the cradle is obviously getting very busy as it tends to do every year before 94.7 this comes with an interesting set of problems for all interest bearers in the area 1. The residents 2. The cyclists now recently because of some less than exemplary behavior from both camps things there have escalated and became nasty again, incidents of assault etc. But now for my grief it is apparent that beyon a reasonable doubt someone/s have vandalized the cycle lanes with broken glass, I have never seen so many broken bottles on any road!! Certain groups of cyclists (you know if you are one of them) contribute very directly to the frustration that ultimately leads to the type of behavior. I have seen at leas half a dozen of bunches last weekend taking up an entire lane, and not using the provided cycling lanes, this, as the motorists have pointed out on many occasions, is extremely frustrating for them. More to the point though it is also against the law (riding two abreast in the provided lanes thought is 100%) So my reasoning goes if you want to stop motorists breaking the law (read vandalizing roads) first obey the law yourself, also gives us as a community a foot to stand on, which given the status quo sorry to have to say we don't!
  6. So has equipoise, Stanozolol (winstrol) almost all testosterone esters you can think of, growth hormone etc. Doesn't make it safe/legal/ethical
  7. Starting the in P hoping for sub 3:30
  8. Probably a major flaw in the idea
  9. Don't necessarily agree with this part
  10. I'd like to believe it as well just won't be too surprised if it turns out it's not the case
  11. Bring the lynch mob because this is going to be a very bold and probably unpopular stance on what should be done about doping. Based on research done by BBC journalist Mark Daly and presented in the documentary BBC Panorama "Catch me if you can" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImBqZKOl6LA Even the most stringent testing regimes i.e. the biological passport only catches about 2% of doping cheats. So here is my solution, fans make sport what it is so let the fans decide, host two forms of every competition, race, tournament etc. one where there is a no hold barred dope all you want policy and another clean voluntary drug test weekly to be done at your own expense at approved independent labs. Then see which one of the two attracts the biggest crowds most sponsors and highest prize money. The only reason I suggest this is I am sick of the lie professional sports is selling. At the last couple of IAAF events everyone wore bibs with the message "I run clean", when you need to start repeating a message that loudly that often it becomes akin to propaganda really. My logic behind saying almost everyone does it (except maybe only Van Niekerk) goes like this; supposedly doping gives you such an advantage that it is almost impossible for a clean athlete to compete against doping athletes. Given that we accept that we need to be asking some serious questions about someone like Usain Bolt, almost every single one of Bolt's competitors have been caught doping and served bans (Asafa Powell, Justin Gatlin, Yohan Blake, Tyson Gay to name but a few) yet Bolt manages to beat all of these confirmed dopers consistently, something just doesn't add up! Same goes for nearly every single sport, so all things considered the guys winning are simply better at not getting caught. That's all, rant over.
  12. Some say he is the only rider in the bunch that doesn't look ridiculous in compression socks
  13. 5 days and counting for me
  14. Just came across this gem "Cigarette smoking: an underused tool in high-performance endurance training" (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3001541/) Cannot for the life of me figure out if this oke is high, if the article is a parody or wtf is up with this, especially the part suggesting that... "With this in mind, smoking should be commenced at as young an age as is reasonably possible. Children who have not yet developed a pincer grasp might require modified cigarette holders, safety lighters or both." I mean seriously WTF!!!
  15. My 2c, I would only really use a coach for things like correcting pedal stroke, posture on the bike etc. all the technical things that I really couldn't do myself because I picked up the wrong technique/bad habit by self coaching in the first place. That being said though most other elements have a wealth of information available on each topic on the interwebs and latest science oversimplified says this, don't cut out carbs just eat good carbs and a good balance of proteins and fats. Sleep 7-8 hours a night so your body can recover. Lift weights twice a week and alternate between long steady distance rides and interval training (2 of each every week) doing this should be enough to yield results to even most intermediate cyclists remember gains = effort over time. Oh and another point for me as other people also made I think the biggest value for me in coaching would be in the discipline/accountability aspects that coaching bringing to the equation.
  16. Thanks. Would be nice to sit with a couple of people who actually do VR all out and see how much money is spent vs rewards money saved i.e. not doing anything you would anyway but applying VR to things you would anyway such as vehicle insurance, fuel rewards etc.
  17. I plan on accumulation points through exercise while wearing a polar chest HR strap, would 3rd party aapps allow me to do this and still earn said vitality points
  18. Okay so I have been through the last couple of pages of the thread anf here is my question, I can see that Discovery have drastically altered the vitality rewards for activities, where a 3 hour club ride at steady pace used to earn me about 1500 vitality points I now only get 600 and the points are now based on distance rather than HR. Is there anywhere that I can find a layout of old rewards structure vs new structure, and secondly all things considered, is the watch deal worth it as I am seriously considering this option.
  19. I was just beginning to think that I dodged a major bullet as most of the family and colleagues had come down with something in the past month. I avoided like the proverbial plague anyone who just looked like they might sneeze in my direction, needless to say not happy to join this thread!
  20. Yeah (3:26) just just thanks to a momentous effort from a random guy pulling me for most of the last 10 or so kays. Did last 8 in just shy of 13min.
  21. +1 sinus struck after tour Durban. Spent the last 8km of the race turning myself inside out to get sub 3:30 and i think that was just one to much for the immune system to handle
  22. This post also looks silly but my 1G Internet made me do it.
  23. Hi, new here I like riding, looks like the right place to be. Oh I also like, gym, red meat, the cradle, b12 jabs and I think everyone that wears those bright green Salomon shoes look silly.
  24. Couple of valid points raised here. 1. Agree with those who call BS, maybe someone who got passed had their spirits broken and an accidental touch from passing close turned into a shove in their mind 2. Anyone that shoves a lady is a ****. 3. Everyone these days are far too concerned with been PC. One more thought surely a CL bunch would have enough riders that someone with in the group would have seen the alleged shove/push taking place, and I have enough faith in humanity to have to believe the group would have dealt with such an individual in the appropriate manner. Just my 2c.
