  1. nice one , well good luck looking after your runner. kind of cool being part of a team to get a person through .
  2. more than anything i will need to get my head right first to grasp the training millage, one day when im big or mature or nuts ... never the less its a huge achievement to anyone
  3. bliksim , respect to you guys who do this , that is f^@#$%^ far to run
  4. i got a mate doing the Karkloof 100 miler this weekend , anyone here know or doing it ?
  5. Well done Bud , this was my first real trail run and went in with no expectation except that i was going to climb ALLOT, i kept myself within my limits the whole run and the irony was that the climbing was not my problem but the descending destroyed me, managed 2:18 in the end. i loved the trail running and will do more but need to work on going down , i had guys passing me like i was standing still . found it very humbling and gained a massive amount of respect for these fast guys . well done to all who did the trail and marathon
  6. Me , decided as my wife is running the 42 on the sun and we in CA i want to go sight see the mountains so why not run/hike/walk them .
  7. these two points , please take note of them, dont listen to you friends who say xyz shoes are the best , go find what works for you.
  8. FYI for those who like tights but dont want all the " hey sexy " whistling from the street corners i bought a pair of these from Decathlone at R229 been using them for about 2 weeks now . has a pre built lycra insert in them and super comfy also they a bit longer than normal running shorts so dont feel like hot pants
  9. ridden alone more times than i can remember , just carry a cell and always be smart enough to tell someone important where you are and what time you expected home , i have had a friend hit a jackall and its did not end well for him so please be safe on the fast descends
  10. i cant run that far, then she beats me and i have to make coffee or something silly for a year a hear
  11. Damb Dude, this has even motivated me to want to run this thing ...............
  12. nail on head !! had this same conversation a while back. the rest of the world build up to marathons and its a big deal ( berlin - london ect marathons ) they have never heard of comrads, in Sa the first thing you get asked as a runner is have you run comrads ,as a mountain biker , have you done epic and as a roadie have you done argus . it blows my mind that if as athlete if you have a brelin or worlds cross country mountain biking thats not really important . us saffers are odd
  13. a new subject : Has anyone here done the Wolkberg two day trail run ? https://www.wolkbergtrailrun.com/ im super keen on the woodbushtrail . just some thought if anyone has been before
  14. just jumping in if you dont mind, i have had kinvara and freedoms , kinvara is a race shoes and does not like millage, its light and fast, my freedoms i have had two pairs 1st and second generation and i prefer the second generation , the upper is a tiny bit more supportive. i prefer the suppleness of the soul of the freedoms but then again i am a toothpick so im light on shoes. millage out of interest : last kinvara 479km only 1st gen freedoms 985km and still in use i enjoy the freedoms so much that i train and race in them now only. just my two cents of random crap
  15. hope you feel better Mattie, i had the same thing yesterday at Birchwood , my gut stated at 16km and hit me hard , spend the whole of the rest of yesterday in bed . keep hydrated and goodluck
  16. And swimmers , the group of old ballies that swim with us kick our asses every morning in the gym
  17. and there you have the difference between runners and cyclist . Runners just plain humble and unassuming
  18. you did not even say hello sisss

    Give it a TRI

Swim was great , the cycle was on the tough side for a tri as the cradle is not flat plus the heat made it a challange. the run however was brutal , hands down the hardest 21 i have ever done of any kind . it had about 4km of trail that you started and finished on with about 366m of climbing in stupid hot heat so to finish was tough .
  20. Iron

    Give it a TRI

its worth the drive to Cradle , you can spend a morning and to two sessions. We race the Ultra yesterday and that dam is one of the best we have, not much risk of getting a loose gut so to speak .
  21. thank you for sharing this and a massive amount of respect !!
  22. So Us cyclist generally dont make good runners but yesterday i saw true grit in a runner on a bicycle. Had the pleasure of supporting a good friend on her first 94.7 and her 4th time on a bicycle and she finishing in a respectable 3h52 on a mtb . Well done to all the runners who did 94 and to those who did skyrun , had to mates there and im blown away by that event .
