  1. Only started running so i could get from the finish of the cycle in the half ironman in June this year to the finish line, swimming and cycling was never a problem. Its the Mrs fault who runs and introduced me . there are a bunch of comrades nutters i have met , not my thing that
  2. 1h48:07 really starting to like running and thinking of putting together a proper schedule as apposed to running randomly
  3. Thanks Bud, Got two 21 's lined up for the new year that i want to see if i can touch on the door of the 1h30ish marks
  4. Im really liking the 21 thing at the moment, easy to train for when still trying to fit in riding and swimming. however the 42 will happen im sure of it. BUUUT i really want to do some trail runs, that looks awesome . More than anything the attitude and positive upliftment of runners reminds me of racing XCO in the 90's , no matter who you are or where you finish everyone is treated the same, really enjoying the people so much.
  5. also remember is as import what you put in the day before to build all reserves .
  6. During the run it was only water and goo . I will admit i did not run 42 like all the beasts but only 21
  7. My trusty pre race meal is beacon/eggs . and toast with a wack of peanut butter . All the proteins and fats i need to keep my skinny ass going . Saturday i ran a personal best and a negative split , my last 7km i ran at 4min15 perkm with plenty in the tank
  8. Will be at more for sure, We did not take a tent down , we all just waited for our runners to come in about 50m before the bend at the finish.Proud to say that everyone of our member had PB's and qualified . Our one runner Did a 2h48 ........... Runners are way nicer than cyclists these days :-)
  9. Well Done , Sorry I missed you .
  10. Without getting into to much tech ( im to doff for it ) my magic gear was 33-18 ( std blade not narrow wide ) , trained on it raced multiple races on it , sub 3 road race at 94.7 it just works well on a 29er . my 2 cents
  11. Correct , the 8000 will work on 10speed ( but only with a 11/42 ) if you had to try a stock 11/36 the shifting may not be smooth . the reason is the old 10sp RD ran parallel to the cassette and the new ones run in a angular motion to be able to keep the rd close to the cassette from the 11 to the 42 ect . if you have ever tried a 10 rd on a modified cassette you will have noticed the gears are not great on the bottom end because you had to crank the B screw so far in to get it to clear the 42 . As I have never yet tried a SLX 11speed on a 10speed i cant comment . For me in life i just keep it simple , use what is designed to be used as a system together and dont mix , this way its reliable. Happy riding Bro
  12. You are correct in what you reading, it is however a Typo on shimano's site . RD-M7000-10 is for 10speed tripple SLX only
  13. To help clear this up . New SLX is available as follows : rd-m7000-10 ( for 10 speed only and 10sp 11/36 Cassette only )3x rd-m7000-11 ( for 11 speed , 11/40 or 11/42 1x or 2x )( and 11/46 1x only ) in 11sp you only get one cage length . Note the New 7000 rd may look the same but you get a 10 and 11 speed and they not cross compatible.
  14. Bwhahaha you owe me a new keyboard ! and yes I am a troll now , pop in and pop out
  15. Any Shimano 2 X 10 chainring bolts will work
  16. What he said . is it a alloy body ? if so what sometimes happens is it eats into the backstop of the body ( the flanged part close to the spokes ) . you should have a thin steel spacer there . if not fit one and refit the cassette . im not saying this is your problem but it sounds to be the case .
  17. remove tire . clean inside really well ( thinners works ) apply normal valcanizing glue ( light glue with lighter , blow out after 1 or 2 sec , this is just enough to warm the area ) apply normal valcanizing patch quick , fit tire back on rim and put a tube in , pump rock hard , leave in sun for a afternoon ( warmth helps the valcanisation process ) pressure from tube helps it bond real well remove tube add sealant ride bike you welcome ( spelling is bad sorry )

  19. I say a timing issue , or he got a lift back ...............in a very fast bakkie
  20. Bwahahaha
  21. is this a commute bike or do you use it on the mtb trails ? only thing if its a trail used bike will be chainring ground clearance ( those little logs ect we ride off sometimes ) you may catch it . but otherwise you will get a better load wear on the ring and sproket as you spreading the chain load over more teeth . have fun.
