  1. I hear you, valid point. At this stage it would be cheaper if someone wants to swop.
  2. I saw that they do have axle kits now but its also an exercise in weighing up the costs. Something like this: https://www.cyclemonkey.com/blog/tech-talk-rohloffs-through-axle-a12-hubs
  3. Hi Guys. Would anyone here consider swopping their 135mm dropouts for the new 142mm dropouts? From what I could find on the web these should be standard Tange/IRD dropous and should be interchangeable. I am seriously considering this frame but I need the 135mm to run the Rohloff.
  4. This is still for a QR mount bike but yes they are scarce. Might do the shim thing.
  5. Does anyone know know what shop might have one of these in the Pretoria / Midrand / Johannesburg area? Been battling with a brake alignment and I think it might be the mount? Something like this https://www.parktool.com/product/disc-brake-mount-facing-set-dt-5-2
  6. I also vote for the cargo bike. They are the most stable from a centre of gravity point of view. If you dont want to go the route of buying one, you can always build one if you have some time. Very nice walkthough below. http://imgur.com/a/DAijq
  7. I also second the Qbond. I had a mavic rim with the same issue a few years ago. Used another epoxy type but didn't work too good, in the meantime I discovered Qbond and used it a few times in other applications.
  8. These arrived yesterday, will fit it tonight. and due for a ride this weekend.
  9. Update: - The brake bosses on the DH3 did not work, thread is correct but it has an extended part to work with the fork. Ordered the correct bosses from Germany and should be here in about two weeks. -Drivetrain installed and seems to be ok, will know for sure once you put power on it. - Played around with the Marzocchi to see if I can get another 5-10 mm to increase the crown to axle to suit the frame better, I used a spring from another marzocchi and it looks like I was able to get it about 8mm higher - The Dia-compe brakes I have is totally worn out so need to look for some V-brakes, anyone have some shimano's or avid's"lying around?
  10. Brake bosses was the issue. Figured out it was an M6 size and maybe the bosses on an old Marzocchi Dh3 I have might work. If all goes well she will be rolling this weekend. I want to do a sticker set in the late 90s look, any recommendations?
  11. The Bomber is in a really good condition and I really want to keep it for the look. Only issue is the bosses though. Will post more details / measurements soon.
  12. Hallo Everyone The newest project being built up. What would you do on a build like this? Full retro or combination? Kona King Kahuna 2007/8 Parts from a 1998 Kona Kula. Looking for the rear brake bosses if anyone has this odd size lying around. Any other good quality (XT/XTR) 8 speed stuff that anyone wants to donate / trade (coffee or beer) will be appreciated.
  13. Hi everyone Found this 3d print and got someone to print it, will see if it works this week. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:155513
  14. I saw some of these by solomons in lynwood, they have the mtb version as well.
  15. Hi Everyone Anyone know of of shop that have these available? I need to do a few pedals.
  16. Hi Guys If anyone as any of the following lying around and not being used I'll really appreciate it. - Sram 9 speed shifters preferably gripshift but anything really - any 9 speed stuff - 26"rimbrake rims Currency available: coffee beans, beer or other bike parts.
  17. Hi Guys Not my own build but something I will be receiving as a gift from family. Solid Minger coffee table. Now for my question: so my first child is on her way in January and I have some concerns as to the edges, any idea what to do? Filling it with a copper billet or glass or something was my first thought.
  18. Well still riding 26 . . . with v brakes. . . and a 15 year old shock.
  19. Last years project. Camping kitchen box. The idea is to load the box on the bakkie / suv. When stopping at your destination your kitchen is set up by just flipping down the lid that doubles as a working space / table. Everything has a place including some water so you can build a coffee in a few minutes. Might change the design slightly if I build a next one but I turned out very useful the last few camping trips.
  20. Seeing this thread I just realized I have a Ragley Luxy Offroad Drop Bar in a bin somewhere, perfect for these builds but never got to the project I wanted to do. Anyone want to take it off my hands? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ae/en/ragley-luxy-offroad-drop-bar/rp-prod54259
  21. My 2007 Hammer in tour mode, suspension up front normally. Reynolds 725 instead of the fancy jobs you have here.
  22. Also try http://www.livetrack24.com/ we use it a lot in the paragliding. Live tracking in google and all. And Its free, you can either download the app to your phone or buy the dedicated tracker. Edit: this app does not have the HR features but is very strong in the tracking field.
  23. Hatfield cycles have stock of 28c's, maybe give the a call as well.
  24. Here is what we did last year, let me know if you are serious (about the kuier part). It will be in the same area but different routes. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/79786-bike-tour-for-dec-holiday/
