  1. I just got the following email from Discovery:

"The Vitality programme is designed to encourage and reward our members for living well and taking care of their health.

In order to protect the integrity of this health programme, we do periodic reviews of our members’ points-earning activities. During a recent review of fitness points allocated to Vitality members during 2017, a number of fitness points linked to a fitness device workout were flagged as irregular on your policy.

If you would like to dispute this finding or have any queries about this, please contact vitalityreview_dispute@discovery.co.za. If we do not hear from you before Friday, 16 February 2018, these points will be automatically deducted from your 2017 Vitality points monitor, and your Vitality status will be recalculated.

We encourage you to keep getting healthy to get rewarded.

    Discovery Forensics"

WTF! If I dont respond in 2 days they are just going to take my points! They could have at least provided a list of workouts they find "irregular" and the reasoning behind it. Nice and transparent!

    Anyone else got this?

I got the same mail. Would have been nice of them elaborate.

  2. So did a small face plant riding a steep rocky downhill trail im cutting in hogsback ... decided to change the xt brakes on my jeffsy for a pair of formula R1 s I bought some time ago from CRC .... awaiting a build .

Xt were good but lack modulation. Rode the R1 s today, jeffsy just got better again !!

I am really unimpressed with XT brakes. Power seems ok but modulation is poor. All or nothing. I am sure they are reliable but I much prefer Guide.

I will take some proper photos this weekend, but here it is... built up in all of it's glory!

Also ended up using the same style clamp as the ryder to add a second water bottle cage for my tool bottle.

Very very happy with how this one turned out!

Nice bike. Miss my Solaris. Thinking of building one up again

You should get one of these for your tools

  4.

So, I have finally kicked off a build I have been wanting to do for some time.... A Solaris Max with 27.5+ wheels. It is going to be an insane trail ripping machine with parts that are probably complete overkill, but hey... why not? I am still waiting for a few bits and pieces, but this will be the build spec:

I will of course post pics once it is done!

    Frame: Cotic Solaris Max

    Fork: MRP Ribbon 27.5+/29 120mm

    Wheels: Roval Traverse Boost

    Rubber: Specialized Ground Control/Purgatory 27.5x3.0"

Brakes: Formula Curra with 180mm Rotors Front and Rear

    Drivetrain: Box One 1x11

    Crankset: Funn Ridge 170mm

    Pedals: Crankbros Mallet E

Seatpost: Funn Updown Dropper 125mm Drop - External Routing

    Saddle: Funn Throne 2

    Stem: Funn Funnduro 45mm

    Handlebar: Funn Kratos 750mm

This bike is going to be black on black on black  with the only colour coming from the frame - not sure whether it will be the black/orange or black/aqua colour scheme yet.

Expecting the build to be done somewhere in the region of 2 weeks from now. I feel like a little kid the night before Christmas!

Nice build. Look forward to seeing the end result

  5. mmm...looks like Saddlebrooke in the background?

I ride around there quite often, also on a Smuggler, will say hi when I see you :)

Well spotted. Not far off at all.

Just be careful there was another bike jacking in the vicinity (Sun Valley) on Saturday. That's two in a month.

  6. New Transition Sentinel.... looking like a longer travel beast. 150mm out back and 160 / 170 up front(?)

    p5pb14880651.jpg

PB photographer Colin Meagher captured some spy shots of Transition's new Sentinel 29er trail bike at the NAEC enduro at Silver Mountain in Kellogg, Idaho. The Sentinel has an all-aluminum chassis that looks pretty slack in the steering department as 29ers go, and taking some ballpark measurements from the photos, the effective seat tube angle appears to be quite steep. "Effective" is the word, because the seat tube makes an S-turn to capture the rocker link pivot and to provide wheel clearance for the conventional Horst-Link four-bar suspension

That S-turn suggests that Transition has given the new Sentinel a generous amount of wheel travel (I'm guessing 150 millimeters). Speculation aside, the bike is obviously in the late production stages, so all will be revealed soon enough. With nearly every brand pushing big wheels at the moment, the Sentinel's appearance should not be a surprise, but for Transition fans, it may be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Well that makes my next bike buying decision a whole lot easier

  7. There was a thread on this some time ago in which Miway responded and yes, they repair and don't replace.

If you do a search, I'm pretty sure you will still find it.

Makes for some interesting reading, especially if you are a Miway client.

Haven't heard much good about Miway. Slightly off topic. One of my staff has his house insurance with them and it took them two and half days to replace a burst geyser. They insisted on an itc check for some reason (his premiums were paid up and had no previous claims) and he paid a R1250 excess. They are also now not wanting to pay for any consequential damage. WTF. My geyser burst and was replaced same day with a R500 excess. Going with the cheapest premium is just false economy.

  8. Good day gents

I'd like to know who here would be interested in 853 steel stickers ??

I wanted to just make for my self but willl end up costing enormous amounts.

So I thought I'd make a large batch and then sell off to whoever want some

They will be high quality printed on clear vinyl and not cheap paper based that leaves all that k@k when you peel it off.

    R6 A sticker

they'll be 5cm x 5cm as our frames use quite small tubes ( put it on your bakkie or car or dog or phone ....your just limited by your imagination)

    I will take 15.
