  1. Only reason I'm doing a few PPA races this year, is in preparation for the Amashova. This weekend was my first PPA race (apart from "Argus") since the 99'er in 2017.
  2. Started in the combined I-L group. Going out on the R27 we had a "squirrel" in front of us, this guy was just weaving in and out, slowing down, accelerating again, etc. I had a chat with a chap on a Mtb next to me, after the umpteenth time the squirrel switched someone, still told him he was lucky on the Mtb, as he can take evasive action to the verge, should something happen. About 7 km out, it happened, squirrel switched the lady in front of me, taking her front wheel out. She went down hard, right in front of me. I grabbed a handful of brakes, but at +30km/h, there was no stopping in time. I slammed into the side of her, also going down. I half landed on top of her as we went skidding over the tar, bikes following us. Luckily everybody else managed to avoid us. I helped her out of the road and sat with her for a while till the first Marshall arrived. She complained of her left shoulder, and wrist. I also landed on my shoulder and hip, but half landed on top of her, she took the brunt of it. (I hope she is OK, I felt so bad for falling on top of her) After the Marshall arrived, I straightened my bike and got going again, the bunch out of sight already. I set off after them, in no mans land between the two start groups. It was a lonely and painful ride from there on. I started cramping badly due to the fact that I was trying to favor my right leg/hip. I ended up crawling over the mats, both legs in spasms. But hey, I did not end up last in the group, even if it felt like it on the route.
  3. Unless in a big group (10+), I've been avoiding that area for at least two years already. Just had a very edgy feeling one morning, and decided, that's it, not riding here again.
  4. I'll be there too. First "race" after the CTCT, and the first PPA race in a few years (my seeding of K reflects that. ) Not entirely unfit, but definitely not race fit. Gonna be an exercise in hanging on for as long as possible.
  5. I'll give both my gonads for either of these Nissans / Skylines.
  6. At the Silos? I believe there was an incident or two a few years back where cyclist got chased by an individual. Although there never was an actual attack, as far as I know.
  7. There was a documentary on Discovery a while back, regarding this pod of Orca's in False Bay. They have learned how to hunt Dolphins also, you should see what it looks like when a pod of 3000 plus dolphins try to get away from the hunting Orca's. Gripping viewing.
  8. Yeah, sad to have read that. I enjoyed watching her in Overhauling, always elbow deep in the innards of the vehicles they were busy with. Crazy speed records she set and held, one was for over 400mp/h.
  9. The bar is also skew. That was before I did the final fettling. .

  12. My latest purchased fitted over the weekend. Set of integrated carbon bars, Ullicyc is the brand name.
  13. Yep, as far as I know that rule never changed.

That was thrilling. MM93 tried his damndest, but just could not get rid of Rins. I see a future champ here. And that Suz was like it was on rails. You could see MM93 braking into corners, rear wheel in the air, and Rins still gained on him.
  15. Only time you are to be on that cement road, is when you cross over it at one point, and that point only.
  16. And cats. My kitten responds when I whistle at her in a certain way. The dogs responds to a different whistle. Kids, well, at age 32 my son basically still ignores me when I whistle at him. His response, "I'm not a dog". Can't fault that logic.

This might sound like a old wives tale, my first big game kill was a 2 1/2 turn Kudu bull, also with a .22 "oop visier". I managed to surprise him early one morning, and got a shot from the side at about 20 meters. Shot him in the ear, fell where he stood. Made biltong from about the whole carcass. My gat got a good hiding from the old man, as I could have wounded the animal, and we would have to track him down. (but I heard the old man bragging about it with his buddy's) I was also about 14.
  18. Still unconfirmed. My wife heard it from a colleague who heard from another person. This was apparently close to the Fisantekraal settlement.
  19. It is a beast of a climb, I must admit. Did the top part of it once in a Mtb race, and it tested the legs, that I can assure you. Imagine if it was open to be ridden, will definitely improve your climbing.
  20. Just shows you how often I go there.
  21. I heard rumours of a cyclist being attacked this past Sunday afternoon, Phisantekraal area. Chap standing next to the road put a stick into his spokes, attacked him with a rock (breaking his facial bones) and then only stealing the cellphone before running off. Anyone that can confirm this?
  22. Land owners request. I guess they do not want bunches of cyclist weaving up the road to the restaurant, and cutting corners on the way down again. Can be quite dangerous for both visitors to the restaurant in cars, and the cyclists.
  23. Enjoy. Quite a nifty little unit, although I have only used the the very basics up to now.

I was wondering where the Honda all of a sudden got the top end speed from, with MM comfortably staying with Dovi. I felt for the the Yammies, they could not even sit in the slip of Dovi and MM. Serious lack of top end speed. Not much wrong with the handling and speed through/out of the corners. But loosing 10-15 bike lengths down every straight cost them dearly.
  25. I notice the "Lap 2" thing, thought it was my clumsiness when pausing the unit when stopping. Only used it twice now, charged it for a hour from the PC, so hopefully it is fully charged.
