  1. 2D for me, in what should have been my 23rd Argus/CTCT were it not for the cancelled races and last year's I missed with my back operation. I entered for all of the races over the 23 years. Will also be only my 2nd race since the 2023 version, so I'm quite chuffed in having a better starting group as in '23 (thanks to the 99er of '25)
  2. Yip, same here. http://results.racetec.co.za/results_by_person.aspx?
  3. Yay, same provisional seeding as 2023. (Did not ride last year due to back op in Feb 24)
  4. Any news on the guys that was involved in the fall on the one rise on the Malmesbury road? Did not look good with the one guy laying still and one gent sat there with a bloody face.
  5. Surely there is something fishy here. 2nd and 3rd place both above 70 years old. Must definitely be on unrestricted e-bikes, there is no way they can ride those times on analogue or "legal" e-bikes. @NicolasH
  6. Did you at least get the promised chocolate bar? I felt so bad going past them, knowing I could not help as I do not carry a spare Quick Link to help. Good on ya for stopping and helping.
  7. Enduroseal for the win. Affordable and readily available.
  8. Not sure if/what club member, and surely there was witnesses.
  9. Perhaps our esteemed Mayco member must receive a number of not so friendly e-mails in this regard.
  10. Reckless motorist just opened her car door, cyclist swerved out to miss the door and got hit by a truck from behind. Passed away on the scene I believe. RIP fellow rider.
  11. Probably not.
  12. Looking at that photo, the charges filed should include at least Attempted Murder, as a rock against the head, especially in the ear area, can kill a person. Strongs to that cyclist, trust he will recover fully from that injury.
  13. @NicholasH. I need assistance in redeeming two free entry vouchers we won last year, for this event. The e-mail address stated on the Voucher we got (winners@99er.co.za) gets returned as not valid, and all other e-mails goes unanswered.
  14. As per SP: "Once again, thanks for all the support with the Mass Ride yesterday. We met with all Westen Cape Gov, COCT, SAPS, CPF and Active Mobility forum. It’s been documented that an urgent cleanup and repairs to the Bike Lane will be implemented as soon as possible. Active policing from SAPS and Law Enforcement will be made available and more visible from 6am to 9am and again in the afternoon. An urgent request has again been sent to Transnet and Prasa to evict all those shack dwellers we saw yesterday. Western Cape Gov gave feedback that Transnet have escalated it to the high court, but COCT now need to find land for them, as 80% of them were recently evicted from the Castle and surrounds in the Cape Town Precinct. (Hence the sharp escalation in attacks) Over the next few days, I should be able to get more feedback on timelines. As for the Harbour access like we did years ago, Rob Quintas is going to try again with Ports Authority. But it’s a key access point for SA and the likelihood of that access being granted is " Meeting Minutes Inter-governmental Cycling Lane Safety Milnteron to CBD_ Recorded_13_01_25_public.pdf
  15. They are going to establish two daily Law Enforcement deployments along the corridor during "peak hour" in the mornings (06h00-09h00) and afternoons. Unfortunately, only from 20 Jan. So until then, the N1 is the safer bet. It has also been confirmed that it is within the law to cycle that section of the N1. I'll try a bit later to link the communication I received regarding this. I think those guards are private postings by businesses trying to protect their assets, doubt if you will receive any assistance from them in an emergency, as I'm sure it's not within their mandate/scope of work.
  16. Yesterday's meeting was a success, with the various role players committing to tackle the problem with vigor. COCT committed to cleaning up/repairing the Woodstock section of the bike trail, and more engagement with Dept of Transport (Minister Barbara Creecy) to get the shack dwellers evicted. Unfortunately housing them then becomes COCT problem, but they are working on securing proper housing for the shack dwellers. We just need to continue sending mails to her office, complaining about the risk posed by the shack dwellers to us as cyclists, as well as to the damage they cause to the infrastructure of COCT, as it is her departments responsibility to apply for the eviction notice, not COCT. Any and all incidents must be reported to SAPS to get the case number, and this then must be forwarded to Pedal Power (which was conspicuous in their absence on Sunday) for them to compile a data base. Also report the incident on the Pedal Power website on their heatmap. SP also had a radio interview with Lester Kiewiets this morning, which was a positive encounter, and spread the message a bit further.
  17. Come on guys, put your egos in your pockets. An attempt is being made to make cycling a bit safer. Either support it, or zip it. Your bickering does not improve the situation any.
  18. There was some "unruly" behavior when some cyclist who took to the Bus Lane in order to avoid "puncture alley", got shouted at by the ones who stuck to the proper cycle lane (and promptly punctured) Lol.....
  19. I also want to congratulate SP on a job well done. What he accomplished and organised in such a short period of time is a truly amazing feat. Thank you very much for doing something, not just join the chorus of negative Nancie's out there. He is an unassuming person who wants to stay out of the limelight, but still makes things happen. Thank you from each and every one of us. And to every cyclist who made the effort to attend, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Our combined voice will be heard, that we made loud and clear this morning.
  20. I was one of the guys fitting a fresh tube there, lots of duwweltjie thorns. Lol. I would say closer to 500 riders, it was an overwhelming success numbers wise.
  21. Yeah, I'm glad to report that there were just a tad more than 15 riders present. Amazing turnout, thanks to everyone that pitched. Anyone that has pictures and videos of the ride, please share it. Had a lekker chat with Mayco Member Rob Quantas at the Civic Centre, and he is now well aware of the condition of the "safe" cycle route, and the challenges that's there. They are having a meeting with all the major role players tomorrow, and there is definitely an urgency from COCT to resolve the issues faced.
  22. I can't take any credit for this, it is Shaun who drove this whole thing. I just tried to spread the word and keep it current. Pity you won't be there, catch you on the flipside.
  23. Just on my various cycling WhatsApp groups there are at least 50 attendees, and they no doubt sent the message on. So, we expect a decent turnout. Then there will be Mayoral Committee members who will ride with us, as well as newspaper, and TV crews present. SAPS and various Security Companies will also be in attendance.
  24. None of the above, you have too lofty expectations. This is someone who does it out of his love for the sport, and concern for the cyclists being targeted.
