  1. So is it with or without face masks when out on the bike?
  2. Fascinating and actually terrifying come Friday morning! Also, I note others have asked if masks are required whilst out exercising? I guess the answer lies in understanding whether your run, cycle or walk within a 5km radius is a "public place" or not? I think the emphasis will be on "place", which could be interpreted as not being "space". From the regulations ... 5. (1) A person must wear a cloth face mask or a homemade item that covers the nose and mouth when in a public place, or another appropriate item to cover the nose and mouth. (2) no person will be allowed to use any form of public transport, or enter a building, place or premises, if they do not wear a cloth face mask or a homemade item that covers the nose and mouth when in a public place, or another appropriate item to cover the nose and mouth. (3) An employer must provide every employee who may come into direct contact with members of the public as part of their duties with a cloth face mask to cover his or her nose and mouth or a homemade item that covers the nose and mouth when in a public place, or another appropriate item to cover the nose and mouth.
  3. I missed the announcement ... please give the headlines?
  4. Sorry all you Moonshine folks. Firstly, no hot chickens. Now it's cold turkey. https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2020-04-21-say-cheerio-to-home-brewed-beer-as-manufacturer-cuts-yeast-supply/
  5. The difference between mind numbing and bum numbing right there!
  6. In my opinion, fundamentally, what we're seeing here is the unraveling of gearing. We can't keep consuming out of future income, based on debt/credit. The compounding effect of leverage is what we're being confronted with now, as aggregate demand falls off a cliff - due to COVID19. At a systemic and ideological level across the globe. Gear up? Happy days. Gear down? Implosion. We need to critically understand what's happening in the real economy (i.e. the exchange of goods and services) versus the financial economy (i.e. the provision and pricing of debt and equity). And critically, environmental impact and sustainability. This **** just got real. Looking forward to following this thread.
  7. Thank you. That's very helpful.
  8. That's what logic told me. 8 bar is my new best friend.
  9. Have to say, I was nervous as **** with my first outing, but it wasn't too bad. I'm sure I'll get better. Stupid question: Over- or under- inflated tyres? I'm using my road bike,
  10. My fear! Heading off to hospital with a broken something! Aside from wheelbase, would you say a MTB or road bike is easier?
  11. Anybody got any advice or experience using a MTB on these rollers? Easier or more difficult than a road bike?
  12. Wow, how I wish I had an indoor trainer of sorts. Anybody got one to exchange for 6 rolls of loo paper? We can do the exchange outside the local grocer store. All at a distance, of course, with lots of sanitizer spraying involved.
  13. Won't deny - recently got an e-bike, and loving every minute of it! Just not sure how these events are dealing with this emerging category. Either way, hope the potjiekos competition is still on!!
  14. E-bikes allowed? Asking for a friend.
  15. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/09/world/british-airways-subsonic-flight.html "The flight left Kennedy International Airport at 6:47 p.m. on Saturday and arrived at Heathrow Airport at 4:43 a.m. on Sunday, a flight time of four hours and 56 minutes. The average flight time on that British Airways route during the past 30 days was six hours and 13 minutes, according to Flightradar24. Two Virgin Atlantic flights from J.F.K. to Heathrow the same night also made it in five hours or less. The speed of sound is about 767 m.p.h. but, because the flight had the help of a strong tail wind, it was not considered supersonic like the retired Concorde, said Jay Spenser, a co-author of “747: Creating the World’s First Jumbo Jet and Other Adventures From a Life in Aviation.”
  16. Whilst the trend is no doubt correct, the absolute number can't be taken at face value because of emergency generators and rooftop PV installations. So whilst the grid distributed less, there was growing off-grid consumption. And so the death-spiral gathers momentum ...
  17. It's you against me on Saturday. Vryyystaaaaaat!!!!
  18. Very sad to see. A real talent. No matter how innocent he may claim to be, the hurdle for ignorance is just too high for those three drugs.
  19. A country needs money and electricity to host a world cup. South Africa and Argentina are rapidly running out of both ...
  20. I get your point if you're referring to the section through Paarden Island. But once a cyclist gets to the junk market tariff lights, I'd rather be taking my chances of a mugging all the way through to Melkbosstrand on the cycle path, than the chance of being struck by a vehicle on the road. Both cycle lane and busy roads are in full view of each other for 20 km's.
  21. I've emailed them to check. Maybe I'll get some complimentary tickets to the final for pointing out their mistake.
  22. That's what I thought too! That's how RSA and ENG played each other in 2007. However, I was playing with the RWC 2019 App's "Bracket" feature last night and could only get RSA vs NZL in a semi under various scenarios. I think the RWC 2019 App is faulty!
  23. Am I correct in saying that the Bokke and All Blacks will in theory meet again in the semi-finals assuming they are top two in their pool and then win their quarters?
  24. "there was smoke but no fire" ... SAA spokesperson. mmmmmm ..... https://www.thesouthafrican.com/videos/saa-flight-sa209-emergency-landing-why-deborah-cox-video/
  25. Is this a rhetorical thread?
