  1. Problem is Kitshoff is a specialist loosehead whilst Malherbe is a tighthead. Malherbe's been average in the scrum at tighthead thus far, and frankly pathetic joining the breakdown (like in - many penalties that counted against Bokke). I'd be playing Julian Redelinghuys and Marcel vd Merwe at tighthead.
  2. At least I believe in Open Time.
  3. They (i.e. Tony) could have a point about some players, e.g. Willie le Roux. What else could explain his poor form. Also Pat Lambie faked his concussion so that Elton would come on unprepared and thereby be exposed. And then regarding MNET, I agree with COSATU (read: Tony) that all Springbok games should be aired during Open Time.
  4. Think his name is Johan Goosen ...
  5. Didn't help the SA "A" team on Friday night. Our problems are on and off the field. Wrong team selection and an amateur and/or sterile game plan.
  6. Eddie Jones. Most respected or most hated Australian in Australia today?
  7. Guess BOKKIES is the appropriate word. Used to be BOKKE. We'll likely pull it through in my opinion.
  8. What a classic game of rugby! One of the most entertaining games in years and of the highest standard. Racing beating Clermont 34 - 33 in the second last minute of 20 minutes extra time with a Dan Carter conversion.
  9. He's been playing 15 and 13. Does all the long range kicks instead of Carter.
  10. Goosen in French semi's on SS8 tonight 21h00. I'll be watching him - not that it matters.
  11. I'm surprised about Steyn rather than Goosen. Suggests to me that AC is not entirely comfortable with Jantjies. I'm not convinced about Pollard for 2019.
  12. In form 13 centres are Jordaan (Sharks), Mapoe (Lions) and Venter (Cheetahs). One of them should crack the nod.
  13. Bok team due to be announced Sat 19h00. mmmmmm .......... ?????? Any surprises? I'll limit mine to Goosen as utility back off the bench.
  14. 213 pages later and I've just chosen to read this thread. Where've I been? Anybody got a brief synopsis - looks like there's something here to investigate as a Vitality member.
  15. Houw Hoek Tour last Saturday and Sunday (what a fantastic event - W2W day 3 might just become legendary!) ... followed by a social ride at Oak Valley on Monday (where we were privileged to see three blue cranes in the dam!!!)
  16. I won't be holding my breath ...
  17. Didn't that go sour?
  18. The idiom is toe the line, not tow the line. The phrase derives from track-and-field events in which athletes are required to place a foot on a starting line and wait for the signal to go. Race officials used to shout “Toe the line!” where now they shout “On your marks!” Since entering the language, the idiom has developed to mean do what is expected or act according to someone else’s rules or expectations.
  19. So speculation has it that Kolisi for Brussow and Paige for Reinach to make sure 9 players of colour are in the RWC squad. I plead the 5th if it's true ...
  20. Agree. I've never rated Pollard. I'd be taking Jantjies or even Goosen to RWC together with Lambie if I could choose.
  21. Great pics. One of my favourite trails.
  22. http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/RugbyChampionship/Was-Richie-McCaws-try-legal-20150727 Indeed ...
  23. That was just one of the smartest moves I'd seen in a long time. Glad they did it now, and didn't keep it up their sleeve for RWC.
  24. So happy my beloved Brussow finally cracks it into Heineke's Bok mix. Just hope he isn't being hung out to dry in the starting 15 having just come back from injury. He's never lost to the All Blacks before ...
  25. Saturday's team vs World XV This team just seems too old for my liking. Quite a few players are on track for their 3rd World Cup!! Springboks 15 Willie le Roux, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Jesse Kriel, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Handre Pollard, 9 Ruan Pienaar, 8 Warren Whiteley, 7 Marcell Coetzee, 6 Francois Louw, 5 Victor Matfield (captain), 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Tendai Mtawarira Substitutes: 16 Adriaan Strauss, 17 Trevor Nyakane, 18 Vincent Koch, 19 Oupa Mohoje, 20 Schalk Burger, 21 Cobus Reinach, 22 Pat Lambie, 23 Jean de Villiers
