  1. Welcome to my world. Loyalty through thick and thin - thick and thin. Like marriage. Until death do us part ... but man those Sharkies are nowhere. As @Moridin said, bunch of hasbeens. Doesn't bode well for World Cup.
  2. More like brandy and coke rugby for my beloved Cheetahs
  3. Thanks 'Dale. Talk about a bottom of the log contest. Will be interesting to see how the trip home influences their performance against the Reds next Saturday. How good was Brussow - yet again!! He has no equal in world rugby.
  4. Ja. With Jacque Fourie at inside centre and either Ruan Pienaar or Ricky January as back-up for Du Preez! But seriously, some (too many!!) of the more experienced players are looking past their peak form and condition.
  5. When are we going to start picking our own Hub world cup squad? 1 to 15 + bench + 23 alternatives.
  6. I've taken to drinking more distilled alcohol (spirits - rum, whiskey, brandy) than fermented alcohol (wine and beer). Mixed either with soda or sugar-free colddrink, although the latter is poison with the artificial sweeteners. No carbs in distilled alcohol. Not sure Banting would approve.
  7. Me too. Quite simple really. Type 1 treatment protocol basically says inject insulin first to cover for carbs yet to be ingested. And 60%+ of food intake should comprise low GI, high fibre carbs (according to current dietary guidelines). BUT!!! - reduce carb intake and you need less insulin, with resultant lower HbA1c in the long run. Fact. I did it and lost weight as a Type 1. Over the past year I've been naughty by having more carbs than I would if on LCHF. I'm fully back on banting since last Monday - Sani is 7 weeks away. I must add, this is all done in discussion with my physician, and he's supportive of the low carb approach. Before they discovered insulin, Type 1's were treated with LCHF. Guess who discovered insulin in 1921 and won the Nobel Prize in 1923 for his efforts?
  8. Your display name is probably what the nation needs right now. But we hold our heads high. My heart is with New Zealand for the final now.
  9. Fantastic news. Spare a thought though for the "coffee economy" in Noordhoek (e.g. Cafe Roux). Those establishments are going to lose a lot of patrons for a long time!!
  10. I gotta feeling ...
  11. Whilst a noble idea, issues around safety, liability and indemnity will never allow it to happen. I don't think the average rider understands the public safety and liability issues in the background of staging an event, let alone one the scale of CTCT.
  12. Sorry to hear. Always traumatic to lose a pet.
  13. Respect Mr E
  14. Never let the truth interfere with a good story ...
  15. Well, seems everybody's going to be in party mode now, so an early start would be irresponsible. 08h00 Sat morning starting from ... but only if you have the PPA top. We might get into trouble for this ...
  16. Oh dear. Honestly seems I've also been caught up in the emotion of the situation based on a misleading picture. But in my own defence, it's about the animals - both domestic and wild - that have been caught up in the fires that feel so sorry for. That's reality for me. Regarding the 47km, on any given day most of us could do the distance with our eyes closed. Like you, I do this at least twice a week on dirt on my MTB. But this isn't any given day ... We recently (December) nearly had a ski holiday cancelled because it was "the slowest start to winter" in recent time. Up until Christmas Eve, we were considering alternatives. But we'd paid, and there wasn't really alternatives unless we were willing to pay for two holidays. That's where I learnt about proper travel insurance for the first time. But we would have travelled and have done sight seeing if needs be, even though we were booked for skiing. Fortunately for us, a mother of a snow storm hit Europe on the night we were travelling, and it added 12 hours to our journey by train whilst many were stranded overnight with children in cars. My point being that Mother Nature sometimes presents us as a species with curve balls we can't deal with, even when we believe we're in control or feel the the outcome should be justified by our expectations.
  17. Wonder how the hospitality tents are going to handle the congestion? Could be interesting ... especially the Nedbank tent.
  18. Hijack on I saw that too 'Dale. Probably the picture that most aptly sums up the situation. So, so, sad. Hijack off
  19. I find your comments in poor taste and totally unsympathetic to the situation. Read the conditions of entry again that you subscribed to when you parted with your entry fee.
  20. To the bottom of Suikerbossie and back. And all buy the PPA tops at registration. So we won't have a road closure but a few thousand doing last Saturday's ride again.
  21. Stresses like fighting fires ... ? “Don’t judge someone until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes”
  22. Slowbee. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, and take it over a beer together at Sani. I don't think we appreciate how close this was to being cancelled!!! Probably should have been.
  23. Most foreigners will have taken out travel insurance.
