  2. my thoughts as well. That was my training bike, I was to scared to ask about my racing bike? Thanks Schnavel. Who are you with just out of interest?
  3. I'm more interested in the going rate? I insure household and vehicles with Outsurance. They want to hit me with over R300 per month on a bicycle of value R20K. I ask them to only insure if stolen out of the house, still same quote. Think this is a bit too much. Must have been a bad consultant?? Anyway will talk to my broker and ask her to do some research for me.
  4. eagerly awaiting to see if i was lucky.
  5. I put it to you, DO it bro, as per your avatar . just saying
  6. Lucky fella, wish I had those options. happy days
  7. Well, I was not on the bicycle when it happened. There I was doing the biathlon at Clanwilliam dam. I forget the events name. I was there for the weekend more as a camping trip for the family and watch my buddy do the triathlon. Anyway, after I had completed the cycling leg there was about 150 run to the finish line. I guy with a TV camera came running next to me for an interview whilst I was running to the end. I still remember his question, "I guess this beats a day in the office?" I replied, office work is certainly a lot easier and then it happened, lost my footing and fell face first into loose gravel. All I could think of was, pleeeease do not show this on TV if you ever broadcast the event. Thankfully my prayers were answered. The two families still laugh about the incident regularly especially when at camp. Funny how the wife always brings up the incident around the camp fire a few years on.
  8. if there is anyone with a chorus or record rear hub for sale please let me know. 32 hole. I have the free wheel. 072 738 8577
  9. To all out there that rode the 99er today. I rode in group B, and in avoiding the accident on the R44 I reckon my pair Rudy Project Rydons must have fallen out my back pocket. It could have fallen out before then as well, but that is my guess. If you know anyone that has found a pair on the road please let me know. Cell: 072 738 8577 They were the limited edition. Ivory arms with a black face. They were clear photo-chromatic lenses. What made them a special edition was the name Rudy was on the black rim (face). Many thanks
  10. Thanks mate. will do so.

  12. I hear you mate, that's why for endurance events like DC (endurance for me anyway) I use clinchers else tubbies for shorter stuff.
  13. been using Vittoria Corsa Evo CX Tubular since 1997. Wouldn't think of using anything else. If no punctures, would get easy 2000 + km on them. Never cycle with slime etc. you puncture in a race, you stop, get a lift back to start, get home put on new tubby period and hope new tubby last a decent number of kms
  14. I'm your height and found 56cm too big again. I think 54cm is your size, you can always use a longer stem to get the correct feel. sent you a PM re: insurance
  15. NO it simply needs Campag Super Record
  16. So teh record time for ACT is 2:27:41 (Robbie Hunter) and that will be on a very good day. Winning time for 94.7 this year 2:08:41. So basically 20mins slower. Not sure of conditions on Sunday but I'd say that ACT being 20 -25 mins slower is about correct on a good day ( hell if that wind blows EISH...)
  17. Contact Ashley Moore: 074 126 6479
  18. very steep. Just ride the One Tonner rather and get 160 km ride for a lot less money. If you take into account the logistics costs etc you have to ask if this really worth it. But the again, it may be on the bucket list for some and the costs are just fine
  19. Agree, I am same height, and inseam, moved down a size from 55ctc to 54cm. much better fit
  20. Goodness me u really are irratating
  21. Had Leatherman Micra for about 8 years now. Bought it for $5 in the USA. Always in my laptop bag. We drove up to Mossel Bay but I came back by plane via George airport. Needless to say I do not have one any longer. Begged the guy to let me put the knife into my travel bag which I wud put into the whole. No compromise. Was really pissed off. New one like over R300.
  22. Apologies for hijacking this post. I also recently purchased teh 35T bundle on Groupon. Problem is that both laptops and home PC does not recognise the device. Have downloaded the software onto all the computers I reckon the device is faulty. Am I doing something wrong, and who do I now contact to send me a replacement?
  23. OK thanks, will do some research on strava and fittrack. You guys have been a great help'.
  24. I'm gonna ask a simple question and hopefully I will get correct answers. Please do assist as I am technologically handicapped 1. Can I track my rides, see altitutde climbed together with HR for said sections? Is this easy to access for someone like me without having to do fancy downloads etc. many thanks hubbers
