  1. any ideas about ghost
  2. if walking up a hill is an indication of a development rider that should not be there in the race then i am also a development rider .i walk some uphills maybe because i have developed more around the waist the last 25 years since starting cyling.
  3. I will be interested but only if there are some other stickers on the frame hiding small cracks as well and the prize for such a bicycle should be at least double your asking price.if you throw in the bibs with the skidmarks left by the crash i will be even more interested. ps this should not be construed as a dibs on this beautiful spez.
  4. thanx HJV1999
  5. i have a garmin edge 705,but lost the charger(AC charger). Can the unit be charged through the data cable that links with the computer?
  6. @baster brak i suggest a good mechanic for a start.
  7. i am sram for many a year and have never had any problems.
  8. What do you do to keep out dirt from between the crankarm where it goes on splines and the frame where the bb is.i can see that there is some grease there.do i take it out every now and again and put new grease in or what.
  9. i also do the deflate , remove valve core, inject, blow ritual.no problems after 5 years plus of riding tubeless.
  10. i always thought that punctures are part of mtb racing.you can take precautions like tubeless, sealant, tyreliners etc , but in the end i believe that punctures are an inherent part of the sport.
  11. the sum of them is bigger than the two parts.it is a team race and just having two strong riders does not necessarily make you a strong team.however in erik and arianne's case i think they are both strong and work well together which is the winning recipe.no use working well together , but not having talent and also no use having all the talent and not working together.
  12. yip so now we know how docile the new zealanders are.but then again huge disappointment to come that far and dnf.keep up the updates.see the woman leaders in rainjackets.where do they store them when rain stops as i do not see camelbacks?what is the weather prediction for the rest of the day.looking forward to go to lourensford to see the end.
  13. big thanks to those posting updates.makes my day less productive but so much more interesting.
  14. 15 seconds is like a pit stop at F1.mine is more like the visit to the local BP to fill up.
  15. also read the article about the 15 seconds.why do my cleaning and lube take longer?
  16. one of the non finishers is a friend of mine who was doing his 3rd epic.last 2 years he was in the middle to forward of the finishers.this year fell and broke collarbone and some chest injuries on prologue.tried to patch himself up,but could not make the start of stage one.currently in hospital being operated on.
  17. the rules do not allow for that.from a hypothetical point of view i think you will run out of gears, the nobblies will wear off, aerodynamics will kill you,etc etc.i cannot for one moment think why you would want to do it on a mtb.if you really really want to do it go x terra.as for ironman it is tuff enough without making it tougher by choice.
  18. want dis 'n helse straf.
  19. this past weekend i rode on some of the trails where they are going .sharp shale rocks are a bitch and tires very quickly slide.i think for some it is going to be a difficult day.still holding thumbs for ke and dg.
  20. If i can not fix it with a hammer then it must be an electrical problem.
  21. with some of the suggestions i will now change the question.how can i cut up some trees alt f up my bike? to solve the problem we must first identify the question.even the wisest of man cannot answer a question set by a fool. at least i still have my sense of humor.thanks guys.
  22. i have tried the tape around the seatpost before, but when i lower the saddle for some playing on the st or the slalom course at ntida the tape makes it difficult for the seatpost to go into the seatpost tube.if it eventualy goes in then it is in its moer when adjusting it to ride home.it seems that the score filled with tippex should do the trick.thank you all clever people.
  23. thanks , but the permanent marker (black)i struggle to see on the black seatpost.only in certain cars that black on black is lekker.i will do the permanent marker on the saddle rails and score with the nail on the seatpost.
  24. I had a bike fitting done yesterday and today will be my first ride with new settings.(stem, saddle moved forward a lot and saddle height adjusted, cleat in left shoe moved etc etc).I would like to know how and with what do you mark on the bike eg tippex? score with the hacksaw? or the angle grinder. The surface is not carbon and the two i would like to mark is the seatpost and the saddle on the rails.Should be visible as at my age eyesight not what it used to be.
  25. the area near roturua on the north island of new zealand
