  1. i travel daily by car and quite often longer distances.went down to mosselbay and pe 2 or 3 times the last month or two.apart from the speedcop sitting behind a bush manning his traffic camera i did not see one speedcop anywhere on the roads. my opinion is that this is just a money making exercise with nothing to do to keep the roads safer.
  2. watched it last night.that armstrong girl is a piece of work.hell have no fury like a woman scorned.for the rest of the people there are no winners in a situation like this. .
  3. The brazeness to do this a few hundred meters from durbanville saps says it all
  4. i may be wrong , but i hope the idiot with the gun shoots himself
  5. they tested vo2 max LT1 LT2 etc including some interesting other stuff eg percetage oxegen consumption per breath etc.i was interested in that as i am a smoker and wanted to see what the impact of that was but that is a different story for another forum.the short answer is they tested quite a bit more than the normal vo2 max lt1 lt2 things.i only train with a hr monitor so it is good for me to structure my training around those numbers.
  6. i did bike and run tests on seperate days at Stellenbosch Fisiology lab basicly to determine hr training zones.I have followed the same testing protocol at home to find MY hr zones for both cycling and running.they were a bit cheaper than SSI and i am still using their formulas ie persentage of tests to determine my garmin hr training zones.

    Cape Epic 2026

this all started when mtb riders started wearing white shoes.(i say this in jest)
  8. a wetsuite used for triathlon and for surfing are not the same thing.water in mossel bay normally makes it a wetsuite optional swim.if i were you i would rather swim without a surf wetsuite than with one but the best would be to either rent or buy a second hand one.many tri wetsuites will be floating around for sale after durban 70.3 as a lot of athletes only do it as a bucket list.my 2 cents worth
  9. as to your question yes i always cycle with my pepperspray.i also run with it.i think part of the problem is that there are just more and bigger cars on the road and then the road becomes smaller for more vulnerable users.but no i do not have a solution as to how to change the behaviour of people and that includes drivers of vehicles and cyclists. i hope you heal well.
  10. the only mantra i have when cycling on the road is rather be a living dog than a dead lion irrespective of who is in the right or who is in the wrong. p= mv if i recall correctly and from that me thinks i will always come second even if i was not in the wrong.
  11. The only benefit what i can see ok hear is that i know when a person is sitting in the draftzone during a non draft tri. other than that you can just as well stick a playing card on your frame and let it make a noise against the spokes.
  12. wonder where he stole the shoes as well
  13. I have started easy run walk on the trails in Paarl and more spec Paarl mountain. I normally run in Asics novablast 4 on the road , but they are a bit slippery on the loose gravel. Any suggestions to look at a very very much intro shoe? and not breaking the bank if the trail running is perhaps not for me. I wear 2 e wide shoes
  14. Video footage is admissable in court yes as long as it satisfies all the evidentiary criterium. As to whether it is worth the fight it is a different question. You still need to lay a charge and the the wheels of justice might turn eventually. It is a different scenario if you were hit and you choose the route of criminal and/or civil litigation. The question is whether the cops will investigate the transgression of the bylaw and from my experience the chances of that are small. I do not condone the transgression of the bylaws just my 2 cents worth having practiced as an attorney for 26 years.
  15. I cannot fault you on your bike choice and echo your sentiments. I am on the oooold Fuji SL Team edition roadbike and had the Fuji Norcom Strait TT.So yes I will def see your bike at transition checkin.Travel safe and have a lekker race.
  16. Will see you there. What bike are you riding so I can greet you when checking in your bike?
  17. I will be in MSB for the race on the 16 th.I will be on the back of the motorbike as TO . Followed some of my friends at Knysna Extreme and 0.5 over the weekend as I have done both and realy is a special race. Last few weeks was taken up by being TO at prison break , wellington kona race and slanghoek. It amazes me sometime how little some of the athletes know ie puncture repair etc. At slanghoek I helped 6 athletes fixing punctures. Sometimes its difficult fixing if the person does not have a tube or a cannister or he has both but no valve adaptor etc. I always try to help and dont give the people grief if they are just there for the experience and wish to finish. Stay safe on the roads and dont forget to enjoy what you are doing and dont get too bogged down in the numbers without enjoying your health and the race.
  18. Is it just me or is the general chit chat on the hub very quiet wrt triathlon lately?
  19. Jip watched it the other day and I am still shaking my head.
  20. I took part in the first or one of the first Amarider 100miler on a chrome Nishiki 26 hartail. All I remember from that day was that it was pissing down with rain Erik Kleynhans won and I had a long chat with swearwords with Meurant at the end. Many a chat later and with some kewl Amarider t shirts bottle openers and mugs which I still use today. I have always made time to drop by his shop to have a chat to the man that did so so much for MTB whenever I had the chance. Later years as the hills became tougher as age caught up to me I still enjoyed our chats on the full moon hikes over a glass of wine while watching the full moon. I will always remember our moments and will continue to drink from the mug of 24 hour races whilst wearing the shirt with pride. Gone but not forgotten. My condolences for Arina and his family.
  21. Injuries sucks.Tore my calf muscle and there goes Knysna xtreme. The nearly 60 year old version of myself is not so bombproof as the 20 odd year old self was.
  22. my fenix 3 is off to garmin this week. Freeze frames and everything slow and sometimes hanging. Holding thumbs for a good deal alt it is back to my trusty xt 920 which still refuses to die despite being more than 10 years old.
  23. weather was as perfect as you could have wished for.
  24. also did 2015.at least the shirt still fits
  25. see you in Dbn.I will be on the back of the motorbike again. Safe travels and enjoy the race.
