  1. did this race last year.after all the cold and mud of day one i now go out in any weather with the mantra of i have been through worse.lekker ride and henco and the team organized it very well.beautiful scenery and too much beer was the way to go last year for me.
  2. just get a new second hand one on the hub.
  3. i inform my fellow riders that i am just trying to hang on and cannot pull at the front.the bulging eyeballs normally is a sure sign i am not bluffing.i will not contest any sprints.
  4. if you owe the bank a dollar it is your problem ,but if you owe them millions of dollars it is their problem.(rockefeller) i do not like banks.
  5. if i get 1500km from a set of pads i would not care at all how they look.
  6. busy charging the lights for this one.is it 21h00 already?
  7. back from tassie with way too much brown ale down the pie hole.riding was a blast with mount wellington in -6 degrees and snow included.(the jack daniels honey flavour took care of the cpold after some tasmanian squid and salmon).for anyone going there the north south track, pipeline track, glenorchy mtb park and clarens mtb park is cool but the mnt wellington ride and north south track takes the cake.we were the only people(poephol) going up the mount on mtb and all cars coming down the tar rode had snowmen on the bonnets.
  8. contact details for ct?
  9. when and if you decide to take the cleats off ie clean them adjust them put new ones in , do make sure that you affix them the right side forward.ask my friend who told me that these new cleats are very difficult to get into the pedals one morning.when we stopped in jonkershoek halfway into the route he tried to unclip.ended up like a tortoise on his back still attached to the bike.after a few minutes of wriggling around, still attached to the pedals,we decided to take off his shoes.after hammering with a rock the one shoe came off and there was the problem.time pedals with the new cleat the wrong way round.was still fun. short answer will be set the tension low in the beginning and tighten as you become more proficient at clipping unclipping.it becomes a natural movement after a while.
  10. was there not a picture of our friend juju in cyclelab checking out bikes awhile ago? maybe all these e toll things will now be reopened as bicycle lanes.
  11. i am also on a mongoose.checked everything as the source of the squeaks but in the end it was my knees.i guess it is a process to determine where the sounds come from, but if i were you i would strip the bike and reassemble with lube in the right places and tightening of everything.if that does not take care of things at least you know your bike better and just live with it..
  12. i would not like to sit on that, but then again you could use it in the garden as a pick.
  13. i am glad you are ok.to all out there be vigilant as forewarned is forearmed.
  14. bang shoes together until all mud falls off.spray with hosepipe.use a nail to clean the cleat bolt where the alan key fits in.(it is a bitch to try and do repairs on the trail on the cleat if you cannot get the alan key in.)take innersoles out and soak in bath.fill shoes with newspaper(especially with pictures of politicians on) and leave to dry not in direct sunlight. alt jump in pool with shoes and hang on washing line.(after you have taken the shoes off) the creepy crawly will do the rest.
  15. stay away from this i would think.
  16. the cape town tickets were gone before i could book.(yip that is a fast labia).any idea if there will be another bite at the cherry for us here in cape town?
  17. my zodiac for today
  18. and here i thought i was having a bad day for riding through some dog**** this morning with the mtb .hope the day goes better
  19. Yes cheapest currently is going to work out at about R600 to rent with a dep of R2400 and then I still need to pay for transport from and back to jhb so not worth while.
  20. @Tmobile investigated the box but the box will be opened and closed quite a few times.dont know it the box will last as it will going on the back of a bakkie for some times.also the box dont fit in the bakkie as my mtb buddy also uses a box,so i guess it will have to be SW.
  21. i know a bike box is better , but for me to spend ballpark R 4000 for a once off trip is not worthwhile.
  22. i am looking for a bike bag to take my bike on a holiday.it will be a once off.between the hub ,;lbs, cape ads, scumtree etc the best i get so far is a new bike bag at SW at under R1000. even if i dont like them that much i might have to go and buy from them.
  23. I hope you and the others get your bike on time. Now suddenly the R720 to take my bike to tasmania does not seem such a lot and i know my mongoose arrives with me.
  24. good morning all fellow hubbers.i have the opportunity to go and ride my mtb and drink beer with a buddy in tasmania for 7 days.flying today in 2 months from ct to sydney to hobart where we will be based.has anyone done some mtb cycling over there.busy with google, but would like to hear from the well informed hubbers.after tasmania we are going to mtb further near mackay but that part is sorted out. we are cashing in some browny points with the families.
