    SPD Sandals

That was also painful, as i was playing soccer as well i ended up using my soccer shin pads out of desperation....Used to ride at the local dirt jumps after school and bash my shins. Funny enough next day at school it was a bragging competition to which of us has the most visible pin imprints on our shin...Lunch break macho talk. lol

    Munga Grit

Will there be a Mini Munga in GP? I'd like to try ride such a distance. Usually only do shorter distances because strapped for time....Munga Event, one day when my legs are big. lol

    SPD Sandals

When i saw "SPD Sandals" and opened this thread, i was getting ready to laugh....but once opening the link and seeing it, i think it is quite nice. Only for casual riding where you will be riding slow, perhaps with the little kids. Any aggressive / fast riding needs to be closed shoes. However, I don't think i would try it. I remember in BMX days i rode one day with plakkies and stubbed my toe on tarmac, nail was just clinging on and the pain was something else....since that day I'm scared to mix bicycles and sandals. Still traumatized.
  4. Why did i open this thread....now i want a gravel bike
  5. Its been open from sometime in the first week of this month but you have to book online before going there. I don't think that rule has changed yet.
  6. Yeah looks bent...That derailleur hanger alignment tool doesn't come cheap. lol. Even on my side, shifting is good but can be better...I'm suspecting my hanger is a bit out of alignment.
  7. I have a 10 speed 11-50 cassette. I find the jumps too big. Planning on removing it and replacing it with a 11-42. This cassette of mine would probably be better suited on a heavy trail bike to get it to the top of the trail and bomb back down. For the way i ride i need the jumps to be smaller.
  8. Shot... that's the confirmation i needed. Thanks
  9. Hi Folks As per the title, does anyone know where i can get crank boots that would fit on a Lyne Pulse crankset? I've seen some of our online stores got but I'm reluctant to order because I'm worried it wont fit. Or should i just go to the local LBS with bike and try out the options? Thanks
  10. What are these trails like? technical? elevation? I stayed close to these trails for few years but never ever tried it out. Time to try it out.
  11. This is terrible This is why I moved away from road cycling...I'd love to ride road but got no faith in motorists, too many motorists have no regard for cyclists and even normal pedestrians sometimes. Rather ride in the bush, if i go over the handlebars i can just blame myself for a lack of talent. In that final second or 2, It must be so frightening to see a car speeding out of control towards you.
  12. Thanks for the feedback guys! Looks awesome and would be a nice change to the usual coastal type of getaways. But I'm sure one need to take precaution as conditions are harsh and riding locations are very remote. That Namaqua Quest seems quite interesting too. Hadn't heard of it.
  13. Agreed...plotting the 11/12 speed route a bit later this year...for the interim I'm looking at the 10 speed 11-42 (closer ratios) I think 42t is enough right now. And should i ride in a place with more hills I would whip out my 30t chainring
  14. I hear you! The jumps in this 11-50 10 speed cassette are a bit too big. Sometimes on the trail i struggle to find the best gear to be in...I need to climb so i shift, then my legs are spinning out of control. lol...Its not over terrible. I'm also thinking of riding this drivetrain for longer and upgrade later. What i would do is maybe get a 10 speed 11-42. If i need more climbing i have a spare 30t chainring i could use. Thats where my thinking is.
  15. Thats my thoughts as well, rather have better good quality 11 speed over "low end" 12 speed. Cant recall right now which sites i saw it on, but saw 1x11 Deore XT and SRAM GX in the 3-4k bracket. I think the GX was R3700 and the XT R3400.
  16. Yeah i've seen some 12 speed kits are same price or a bit more than 11 speed. I think i slightly overlooked 12 speed because i thought I would need to change my hub (don't want to do that)....until i researched and saw that its not necessary.
  17. Hi Guys I know that we are still in lockdown and all that, but at some point when lock down comes to an end I'd like to head out to the Northern Cape...Like a weekend getaway type of thing. A person always goes to the coastal areas, only for work reasons have i found myself in the Karoo region. I'd like to discover more of the Northern Cape. I'd like to ride some of those long gravel roads. Which parts of Northern Cape are good for MTB / Gravel riding? From a quick google search, i see Goegap Nature Reserve (Springbok) has some cycling activities. Thanks!
  18. Hi All I'm currently seeking some advice with regards to upgrading my drivetrain. I currently run a 1x10. 32T Chainring and 11-50 cassette. I want to upgrade to 11 or 12 speed. Ive been wanting to go 11 speed but my LBS advised I should just go 12 speed one time. I was plotting to go 1x11 32T with 11-42/46 Cassette What would be the best option? Thanks!
  19. Look at Signal Bikes and Avalanche...you might be able to get those in budget if you really want a new bike. Maybe some Momsen's. I saw they having a sale.
  20. Honda CRF 250L Rally Adventure Bike
  21. Upgrades fitted. SR Suntour Raidon RLO and stans crest wheelset with 3.30 hubs. I like the white spokes.... Just from lifting the bike can feel there was plenty weight saving. Coil Zoom fork and the No name wheelset is heavy.
  22. Just collected a used Signal S940 2020 model. Still looks like out the box plus previous owner upgraded the cable brakes to hydraulic. Just my luck. I opted to spend less on a bike in order to use remaining cash to upgrade the way I'd like. I could have just dumped 15k into a new bike and that would be the end, but didn't want to do that. Next up I plan to replace the cheap Chinese 28mm coil fork on here with a Suntour Raidon 32 air and may put a stans Wheelset. Got the fresh bontrager set up tubeless. Bike comes with a L-Twoo 1x10 drive train. Online reviews of their components seems good... I'll give it a try, perhaps later in the year 1x11 kits will become cheaper and I will get that. It's red, so it's fast... Its work in progress. Haha
  23. Got me an Oval Nw 32t chainring yesterday [emoji3] plan to convert from 2x10 to 1x.....going to ride it with the standard 11-36 cassette and see how it goes, I ride a 650B. I hope it works out Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
