Saw all the rich wannabees, including mr McLean riding with the real team this weekend. About 60 of them Saturday and Sunday in the nice Soth Easter between Strand and Stellenbosch. How much did people pay again... to ride 50 metres behind some German speaking cyclist? Normally our people train at 5 in the morning, how is it to ride over lunch time in the middle of the summer?

There are also people that get their seedings by sitting on the back of a tandem. I dont think thats correct.

Agree with Austin, there's so much talent around. I agree on the ladies side its very thin. But come and visit a Boland track meeting and see for yourself. However the accent and big love of the Boland youngsters is track, they even present their road circuits on flat, track like courses. Most of the PDI juniors in the Boland can sit a wheel and sprint like hell. Not too fit and suffer on the climbs. But if a laaitie can sit and race in a bunch thats a lot. So instead of coming from other sports like running or triathlons, they all come from track cycling, where you must think, not just push a big gear. They also have very good legspeed. I was selected the new Boland chairman 3 months ago, and we will start to change the format of road races, get our newly qualified coaches involved, and the laaities will do some base training with the Matie squad from next week. Maties are the strongest road club in Boland. Then we will see improvements at events like junior tours and Eric v Enter. And hopefully be a feeder province to the big teams.

I also tried as I'm trying to get a 3 day organised a month before Argus in the Cape. FRom what I've heard, the summer league starts on 14 Jan. The also 21 and 28 Jan. THen the Herald in PE on 4/2. THen on 10/2 the Tomcat 99er. But even their site still only about last years event. And the weekend of 17/2 will have the next league event.

Le Tour, Maties are developing riders, like Mike thats moving up to the pro circuit. Dan and Erik also came through the ranks and improved a lot being at Maties. AS we are mostly a student club, we dont have juniors to speak of. There are other students coming through the ranks, like Johhny kritzinger, now going to ride for Harmony MTB team. WE cant tell a rider to ride more and study less. Unless they will make BIG bucks as a pro. Maties will allways have a team in the Giro and try and race upcountry as the budget allows. WE are too glad if a rider that developed at Maties get a chance to ride for a REAL team.

Orca, what was excuse in Double? Maties must rebuild every 2 or 3 years as riders carry on with their lives. Mike S, moving up to Jhb to ride for Harmony, Jaco W, finished studies, not sure if he will be racing seriously, Martin M, taking a break, need tu study harder i think. Dan C, still overseas from March. Arno V, concentrating more on mtbiking, will ride the occasional roadrace. Seems like ERik will still ride Maties, along with Alex Milner, Micheal van Staden and an ex RK rider.

Seems like some cyclists got road rage/agression during the Double yesterday.
