  1. Not sure if a sponsor but Vye has already reacted and put out a notice. Saw it yesterday on FB.
  2. He was the high school coach for the mtb team. The abuse of a position of power and trust was horrendous. Agree with you, they deserve better.
  3. Taken me this long to remember my password. Not going into further details as school cycling community is relatively small. Feel sick about the whole thing. Two brave souls came forward. May they heal as much as is possible from their ordeal. May those who could not find the strength to come forward also find healing.
  4. Hello Has anyone used or is using the Rem-i Amica panic button that is linked to the AA, considering it but not sure if it is effective or does what it promises? Says if you press it then the closest armed guard comes to you. Not cell phone dependent. Have put the blurb below. Thank you
  5. Did the 35km with my children, really nice experience for them and they really enjoyed it but they were fit, trained and more than ready, think I slowed them down to be honest.... Riding on the highways was a highlight for them. Well organized in general, parking was easy, access was easy, followed the app and got there earlier than expected. I told 'car guards' to go away as was not giving them any money so they were wasting their own time. One lingered and tried to engage, I just totally ignored him and he then wandered away. All in all a very good day albeit different to doing the full race.
  6. Just so you are prepared, the smell near one part of the river was vomit inducing. Also be wary of riding through mud near an outlet, I am not convinced it was just mud. Hopefully it's not the case again this year, as if it is then I won't do it again in 2023.
  7. Check the pop up is not blocked once you click on submit. Happened to me and it took me about 3 attempts before I realized.
  8. Thanks, you saved me emailing them.
  9. No it doesn't look like that. The mtb is the one with the bigger numbers that goes in front like you described. OK so I am glad I bought one for the road also. I will email them and ask if you use the same number for both races out of curiosity. Thank you.
  10. I am confused as I gave away my road ride Jobug entry last year as had Covid and couldn't train but I got a message a while ago saying seeing as I had entered last year and received a number and bracket free and the number will stay with me but I never received it as didn't do the race. Also did the MTB last year and think I used the board from 2020 mtb. But I presumed I would use that this year as also doing the MTB one. I am not sure if you use the same board for mtb and road even though it is only the 35km one Anyway I bought another board just in case for road but will only get that after MTB as expo is after.
  11. They have seeded the short 35km race too, I am in D. Children automatically with me I think as I entered them as minors and have not received any other emails for them. They do actually have their own seeding though as they did Trailseeker before but don't think that is looked at as they have to ride with an adult at all times which I totally agree with.
  12. Thank you so much.
  13. I didn't do 2021 (thanks Covid) so I don't know the route from FNB only know the old route. Doing the 35km with my children - it's the beginning and end of the normal route. Any parts to be particularly careful, big climbs etc. ? Here is the normal route and below that the 35km route and below that the normal route. Thank you for your help
  14. Yes. When I entered the race I needed the chip for, then I paid for the additional chip and picked up with goody bag. The board I bought the morning of the race at the race and not when I entered. I can't remember which races though, I think the board might have been 947 mtb race.
  15. I have also lost both before but I lost the board at home somewhere, chip somewhere on the road I think. I just got new ones for the next races where applicable but I marked them so if the old ones surfaced then there was no confusion. Then I just double checked that the news ones were reflecting under my name when I picked up my goody bag. Old ones never did surface. This was pre covid days so about 3 years ago.
  16. Thank you to all for your replies and input. Most useful and I appreciate it.
  17. No not really. I just tend to use them on full bright and was thinking of max length of time out needing lights but realistically its never more than 3 hours at the most. Thank you for your help and info.
  18. Morning all. I am looking to buy some new lights. Previously I had 2 x Ryder 1000 lumen light (one for helmet) with a battery that you charged and then attached to the light on the bike. Having a brief look online I see quite a choice now and also USB charge etc. I am looking for a minimum of 1000 lumen and a life of minimum of 3-4 hours on full beam. It's just for night rides and early mornings. Preferably with the helmet option as I will buy 2, one for bike and one for helmet. Also a new red back light as I can't find it. Any recommendations of good ones or ones not to to buy? Thank you
  19. I can only concur with the good advice given. A ladies saddle made a difference when I first started riding, much comfier. An absolute must have. Regarding Frist Ascent shorts, I bought one pair but was not happy with the chamois after a few washes and never bought again. I prefer baggies to bibs but that is just a personal preference. I tend to use Fox baggies with the removable inner short and have done a few 5 to 6 hour rides (when I used to be fit not now 😆 ) in them with no problems. The outer shorts do fade quite quickly is my only slight gripe. They are quite reasonable about R1200 to R1600. Chamois cream I also use, especially if the trail is one that I am off and on the saddle quite a bit with descents etc. As stated above apply to your body directly. For me I like FIT chamois cream but they are all pretty good. Don't wear underwear as it can cause chafing. Hope it gets easier for you and you really start to enjoy your rides. PS Sorry OP forgot to add that I am female
  20. I came specifically on the hub just to check this thread and saw the very sad new that truthfully I was hoping we would not see. RIP Cois, your bravery and fortitude was an inspiration to many. You fought an immense battle and words cannot describe the strength you displayed. Reinet - I do not have adequate words to express my deepest sympathy on your tremendous loss. May your memories of the love you shared carry you in the days ahead.
  21. Couldn't have said it better!
  22. My laptop right now...
  23. Still no live feed.
  24. Hope Maroshell somehow makes it. Kim B is 4km to go. No live fed on FB yet.
  25. I so so hope she makes it.
