  1. Yeah man, would have been my 6th year in a row going down, should be leaving tonight for a leka 2 week break to Cape Town, but alas, now I'm back at my office for the first time in a year. Can only imagine how it must feel for the people who have been doing this every year for 20, 30 or 40 years. Must be really weird. LWB, would this have been number 30?
  2. Holy hell
  3. Once in a lifetime opportunity taken
  4. Every Year???
  5. Damn, gonna miss the confusion when newbies get to the "Top" to only find the road Sho't Rights itself for quite a bit more hahaha
  6. Crazy.
  7. This is true. Hows the old Kimberley Road looking? Used to be many cyclists on that road as well in the morning, haven't ridden on it since last year sometime.

I swear I only went to buy one set for my son's birthday, but then there was clearance. . . . . .
  9. Not sure how our intent on entering an event equals us not giving a hoot about what's happening? We can surely have hope for a better tomorrow? Or should we all just wallow in negativity and fear? I choose to be hopeful, it will get better, things we love and enjoy will start to come back, the question is only when that will happen. No need to be negative and judge others for their position in life.
  10. I just wish they could give an indication of when more or less they are looking at, even it comes with 57 caveats. Need to move accommodation, but no idea when to move it to.
  11. Haha, I know, there is no such thing as a chilled ride. Definitely, accommodation is booked and paid for, if the race doesn't go ahead we have super easy access from our accommodation to the cycle path that goes to Melkbos so will just ride that a few times, not the same scenery but still worth it. Argus is a small fraction of our time spent in Cape Town and I am damn sure the local tourism industry can do with every R1 that they get.
  12. That is a complete possibility, if you look at the past few years odd number years always have some sort of an issue: 2015: Fires and shortened race 2016: Cracker of a day 2017: Wind and Cancelled race 2018: Cracker of a day 2019: WIND and much pain and suffering 2020: Cracker of a day, depending on when you started as my father in law had to pedal downhill to Camps bay 2021: Who knows, let's hope it breaks the pattern. Really hope it does go ahead, even if it is just a chilled ride on closed roads.
  13. Hmmm, those MSRPs aren't really a true reflection of what a landed card would cost. We definitely get screwed, but this is a bit exaggerated.
  14. Yeah. so using a proper calculation comes at about 20% markup, give or take with some liberal allowances. Take that on the markup that they are charging on the new Nvidia cards and it doesn't look too bad
  15. Prepare to be disillusioned more. . . .
  16. Haven't had such an issue as of yet bud, have had mine for 3 years and they have been perfect. Even the one that i had to work on due to my dog biting it a bit works perfectly. My father in laws pair is the same, no problems.
  17. Agreed that not replying is frustrating. But not sure why you though they would refund you? Do you read Ts and Cs. I’m not saying I read them all before I sign, but I definitely would read them before trying to claim a refund. . .
  18. We should be entered already! I feel like I’m missing something in my life haha. Haven’t been on Racetec in so long if it wasn’t for the password being my ID I would have forgotten it
  19. I presume if we were to be under level 3 and this event takes place, which i don't see those two going together, then nothing would legally get you to Gauteng. Let's see what CR says this week, hopefully some good news for events
  20. This is very true, people that i know that never watched the news now follow it religiously and are super negative all the time
  21. I would doubt the events would change much, maybe for the first year after the this but from there it will fade out. We are definitely more aware of hygiene which is fantastic, but as I said above human habit is hard to change.
  22. And as will all places once the virus has worked its course. We are creatures of habit and a few months of lock down won’t change that. I personally will be entering and supporting any event that I would normally attend that is allowed to run. They need the support and I will give it to them. Whether this virus is still around by next year I’m not sure, but I truly hope not. The Job losses are not something we as a country can sustain much longer.
  23. But does it also leave oil stains all over your driveway?
  24. Have a look at the ones that Volvo sell, they are Thule made with Volvo branding. Only difference I see are the tail lights and the fact that it is cheaper. Hell the manual even says Thule
  25. i9 is completely overkill. i7 is great, paired with at least 8g of ram should be fine. 16gb would be better future proofing. Especially if you want to export photos with a few filters and brushes and adjustments applied. Graphics are important, but unless you are doing video editing not really the end of the world. You welcome to send me a PM with a budget and we can have a chat further if you want
