  1. Also forgot the Free State Interprovincial Championship in October. Not often I get to ride from home to a race
  2. Did Montecasino Classico last week Bielie Mielie MTB race in 2 weeks CTCT March Groot Trap in April Amashova and Ride Joburg later in the year Also thinking of doing Wines2Whales, but not sure as this year it is Whales2Wines
  3. So, not sure why we are bashing someone for pointing out that an organiser made it VERY clear that we could throw trash at that particular point and begged us not to do it before or after that, then proceeded to not clean it up? We don't know if he was on his bike, or in a car. Regardless I don't think everyone drives or rides around with a couple of black bags to pick up random trash. So thank you for pointing that out, sad to see the organisers not following through on the idea.
  4. Agreed, very well organised and a great route. Having never experience the cradle before it was amazing for this free state bumpkin to see SO many cyclists on the route that weren't part of the race. On a side note there are definitely some Metro cops that deserve a well rested day off today! Having to deal with Angry Entitled motorists for a number of hours must be terrible.
  5. MY theory of even years being great weather years didn't hold up last year, so I will give my weather prediction on the morning when i wake up, but that probably won't be accurate either and severely limited to Sea Point.
  6. Does anyone have the route map for the new route? Or GPX file? Not sure of the routing
  7. Well done on reading the thread before commenting. . . Doing it for the first time this year, keen for something new!
  8. Maybe we shouldn't bash one of the few places that actually is trying to solve an issue. While it may not be perfect, at least it's something. And in this country anything at this point is better than nothing.
  9. Okay, that is true. Wonder if they are going to release a new sub 3 kit?
  10. If not just wear it on Saturday morning, should be solid bragging rights haha.
  11. Not really different to their normal branding, maybe a bit more, but I'm guessing they are giving these at a discount if you take what a normal shirt costs

  13. Organisation is fantastic, don't get me wrong, my experience was marred by unfitness, and the muggiest weather
  14. All you do is suffer, while surrounded by grey buildings
  15. Still better scenery than the whole of Ride Joburg.
  16. I presume this isn't replacing the 109km? Pretty sure doing the full event will still be an achievement for people to strive towards, with the shorter route being a stepping stone. Because it may be easy for you to ride a bike does not make it easy for the next person.
  17. Always surprised by how many people think that big event companies don't do there due diligence before making a decision. Just because it does not fit your narrative, does not mean it won't be a success. If it get's more people on bikes, then I say go for it!!!! Would probably allow a younger participation age as well?
  18. Thread revival time. After 11 years of owning a 1000D, it was time to upgrade earlier this year. Managed to get my hands on a used 70D, with a low shutter count. Picture with his baby brother. Then added a 15-85mm, a great upgrade from ye olde kit lens.
  19. Ala Argus? Also don't bother with that infuriating sticker on my helmet, not worth the PIA to get it off after.
  20. Not worth it for the 44 people will understand. . . .
  21. It goes on Racetec, so while it may not show as an "official" seeding event, it still will count towards seeding.
  22. Careful, another South African has recently claimed something is "dying", didn't turn out to well for her. . . . .
  23. And a leka race at that! Always one to look forward too.
  24. Although I didn't do this race this year, I would like to echo this experience from last year. Tearing down some stretch of highway in the beginning before the pain started, 4 lanes wide, had trains shouting at us to keep left. We were in the left most lane in the middle. Utter boxes, I can almost understand this on CTCT, with two lanes mainly the whole way, but on a 4 lane highway? Where we supposed to go?
  25. Damn, didn't know you could even do that with those
