  1. Yes, as shaper said. Two team mates must achieve goal to boost your reward. You are right, once the targets get above about 500 all team mates need an approved heart rate monitor linked to some app or website that links to discovery. I use a heart rate belt linked to my Samsung phone which has the SHealth app.
  2. Did the app update recently. I had this problem start after an update. Removed it and went back to an older version. Then worked fine.
  3. Something thought I'd share, I have been battling with this Samsung phone S Health App, the heart rate monitor always disconnects when the phone screen hibernates. Anyway, I found that pushing the LOCK button on the App prevents this. Made my day, I have lost many sessions because of this.
  4. The version you have is the one I am using, so this one works on my Shealth App.
  5. I managed to solve the problem after three days of trying. found version 5.10.0 of the Discovery app on google. Installed that and the update works. To uninstall updates you need to have a app that saves the old APK file. The last two versions of the Discovery app don't sync the exercise workouts from S-health.
  6. Does anyone know where to get an older version of the Android Discovery app, the latest version does not sync the exercise, only the steps. I have tried everything to fix this problem. Happened from when the app upgraded on 16 August.
  7. I use Android Discovery App with S-Health Samsung App. Sunday is not syncing for Heart Rate. I had this problem three times before, solved it by removing the Discovery App and reinstalling again. Last time I had the problem I actually removed the Discovery App twice and reinstalled it twice, then the problem was solved. Reluctant to remove the S-Health App and reinstall as then the sessions are lost.
  8. Anyone had issues with redeeming rewards at the gym. Local gym seems to suddenly develop an "IT problem" when a voucher is produced. Don't know if I am imagining things or not.
  9. I have mavic elites (road wheel), if you undo the locking nuts on the axle, the hub falls apart, I seem to remember. There are no internal locking nuts (one some hubs there is one in the centre of the hub where you need to push a big alan key down where the axle goes). You need two very flat spanners of the right size. If you don't put it together properly, there is play in the wheels. You would be able to feel the bearings directly to see if they have play in them.
  10. The hub and axle is not properly installed. Each hub is slightly different and has its tricks to get things right. So I agree, try to google and youtube how your hub is put together, take it apart, service it and install properly again. If the bearings are faulty you will feel it if you spin the wheel and hold the axle. You can feel some vibrations. Bearings can be used until they are in in pretty bad shape. So the cause of the problem is unlikely the bearings.
  11. I had my brakes bled by a very good bike mech, asked him why there was so much travel in the lever. He told me that is the way the brakes are. I told him - watch this. Did my brake pumping trick and voila, no travel. He said he never knew that. You can always learn a new trick. I also use this trick on Avid brakes, never tried with Shimano.
  12. On my Formula One brakes you can solve this problem by pumping the levers two or three times with the wheel removed from the brake calliper. If you pump too much you can gently push the brake pads apart with a screw driver, insert old brake pads when you do this. Also if pushing the brake pads apart is difficult, open the bleed screw at the bottom and let out a drop or two of oil.
  13. Even better, I think there is an uptapped appetite for these type of races.
  14. We have the Berg100 here in KZN, 100 kays district road. Surprisingly enjoyable.
  15. I bought power steering mineral oil for my brake bleed, something like this. http://forums.mtbr.com/brake-time/mineral-oil-brake-fluid-cheap-453362.html Worked great, next day I found out my brakes needed Dot 4 brake fluid. One brake set stuffed.
  16. They charge VAT 14 % plus clearance fee of about 2%, don't buy shoes from CRC it is 100%. Spares are OK.
  17. Lancesball, I enjoy your posts and also the cool name. I have visions of Lance's testicle getting a life of its own and coming onto these forums. Maybe it has. My advice to you (and myself) is that if someone tries to troll you, just ignore them. I used to follow pro cycling very closely (pro tour, teams, riders, etc.), but each doping case makes me less and less interested. These days my cycling is about riding cool MTB races with my son and other mates, then talking k@k about cycling (i.e. on the hub).
  18. Has to be the Lance Armstrong story. After that I realised I would never trust anyone that denies something too vehemently. There are two types of dopers, those that speak vaguely because they are scared that one day the truth will come out (there are many in this camp), and those that are so vigorous in their denials and condemnations that is makes you wonder. There seems to be a cultural divide when caught, some nations appear to own up when they make a mistake, e.g. Dutch. Some seem to support speaking vaguely and enforcing a code of silence.
  19. For me the issue is that I clapped and cheered most of these guys on the podium many times. There has never been a time in cycling when doping was not considered cheating. Turning a blind eye is one thing, but I think everyone always new it was wrong.
  20. GP takes blood and sends to lab. I had this done a few times when I was sick. Mine was about 50 when I was resting for a few weeks. If you google the problem, high iron levels in older males can be a hidden problem. Normally does not affect athletes, but something to monitor.
  21. Mine is pretty high and I am average cyclist. Resting makes it higher and over training / racing makes it lower. Hence the biological passport can pick up when you are manipulating blood values. For example, with a hydrated cyclist the haematocrit cannot go up during the Tour de France without manipulation. It must go down. I do get problems at night if it is too high. Feeling of palpitations and strong heart rate. But that is another story. I think if you had too high haematocrit and any problems with the heart electrical side at rest, then high haematocrit would make it worse. The fundamental problem of cycling is that racing or training too much reduces red blood cells which affects aerobic performance.
  22. We used ozone to bleach pulp in a paper factory I worked in. It replaced chlorine, but was a bit worse. I cannot see how it could affect blood values, beyond a placebo effect. It may actually do some damage as it is quite reactive.
  23. I agree, I used to ride VA and could stay with the front guys without doping. I was a pretty average cyclist. Now and then you get someone who can destroy the field, either very talented or on something. If I look at how hard the VA's train and how often they race. It is possible for most of them to ride at this level without dope.
