  1. Although certain bikes will suite certain disciplines more, its not a make or break thing....you can do enduro event with a hardtail and a xco event with a trail orientated bike...Fitness and skill maketh the man, not the bike. With that being said though, if you are starting out most events in our country are XCM format... Get a bike that will suite where and what you are going to ride the most, give you the least amount of maintenance headaches and most importantly, the one you like...
  2. Considering this Powermeter.... you have the knowledge and background, you just need the tool
  3. Look meneer, you will be singing like a canary before the skin breaks...its sore as in not uncomfortable, more like I cannot sit cause it feels like a cactus. Once it gets to this stage(normally around day 4-5) GO to the medical tent, dont be hardegat(excuse the pun). They will treat the sore and dress it to prevent the skin breaking. In my case with friars balsam and wolkombers plaster. From this point on, it will be moer uncomfrtable, but you will be able to sit now and again giving your legs a break. The advice the doc gave me was....prevention is better than cure. Condition your rear by doing the following 1.Spending time in the saddle if you doing a big stage race 2.Get the right saddle and fit...and don't change or fiddle with this before the race 3.Apply SS or friars on the sitbone area whilst you are still in the training phase...this will make the area tough and hard.
  4. Not instantly no, but over a three month block it will make you faster than 100k F8 upgrade will. That is if you are prepared to work a bit
  5. That is the tip of the iceberg...
  6. oh and just another point to consider, do you know or have a program to train with power. It might be worth your while to check out your closest cadence / wattlab near you and use that change from the 105 group towards a 3 month training block to understand and get a feel for what it is about.
  7. Thats oom. my donner, how old is jcza. that is circa 1905
  8. BUUUUURN !!!!!
  9. Instant gratification vs long term benefit(with some hard work). Look if your were on 105, I would have gone power meter...no brainer. But remember, a power meter doesnt magically add 10km/h to your avg speed overnight. You have to hurt a bit. I think look at a good secondhand 105 group...replace rings and cassette. Then save up for a powermeter again
  10. ja but what does your speedo read now
  11. Cancel that....what beats a dragon rotor....kaalgat tjerrie...that is what http://www.amazon.com/Dirty-Dog-Ace-rotor-6-bolt/dp/B0068S1AJS/ref=sr_1_10?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1409823700&sr=1-10
  12. And what is cooler than skulls on your rotors....dragons pappie http://www.amazon.com/DirtyDog-Dragon-rotor-6-bolt-160mm/dp/B001CK2O3S
  13. what about these...jis they must brake like a baws http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/us/en/dirty-dog-skull-rotor/rp-prod25147
  14. you gots me.
  15. Does 1kg feathers weigh less than 1kg lead?
  16. kekekekeke
  17. ah I see....good advice. Luckily no rash for me with friars but I get your point.
  18. Gots nothing to do with wheelsize...check your rotors and mineral oil. If they both pristine, up your rotor size
  19. look flow's are magic meneer, they are super strong...as in DH strong but they penalize you heavily ito weight. Now although it doesnt sound like much, its the absolute worse place to carry weight(rim and tyres). Running slightly lighter rims will make your bike feel very responsive ito accelerating and climbing. The arch rims are much stronger than crests, but they don't penalize that much as with flow's. If most of your riding is tech rocky AM terrain, I think the arch's will suite your need better...I am not saying flows are kuk, just that arch's will suite your riding better. Build them with strong spokes and you will battle to dent / destroy them.
  20. Yip agree on the keeping it dry thing....also what friars does....it evaporates like spirits before you apply dressing. I mix my own chamois cream. 2/3 bebanthem(spelling), 1/3 medela nipple cream....works like a bomb.
  21. meneer if you can change back to arch I will really advise you do so....they are much stronger than crests and dont carry the weight penalty of flows. Unless you are downhill racer arch's should be more than adequete for marathon / am / enduro rides.
  22. Yip, the only thing with surgical spirits(when you have the saddle sore) is it burns like a mofo....but when you don't have one, they condition that sitbone area to an inch of being leather. The friars balsak advice was from the doc at j2c...also involved at the epic ito medics. Really helped for me and worked well.
  23. Arch is perfect and you made the right choice...strong enough without being anchors.
  24. yahtzee...buy a frame, make a mold....setup sweatshop. 1-2-3
  25. Sho, finally.....time to pay the piper.
