  1. Look meneer...rigid has its pro's and con's same with suspension Rigid is light, looks awesome, no maintenance but if you want a more trail orientated ride it hurts Reba is expensive, need maintenace, 3 times the weight of a rigid but offers that front suspension. If your goal is a train orientated SS, rather go with the reba. I am picturing something along the lines of a niner ROS type bike, but SS
  2. Reba all the way...
  3. try crusher's new shop....
  4. Hussain...cycling is and will always be a power to weight game. Up your power output for same intensity by training(sweet blood and requires great dedication), down your weight(no, dont start with your bike...start with your belly, much easier to influence by eating a healthy diet)
  5. Will throw in a 24h day in the event too bennie...you will dominate that thing
  6. kekekke En nou...wat maak daai groot rooi S in you avatar...dog jy is n ninerd
  7. ja, but its one format...XCM. The idea behind this is to find the complete mtb'er...he/she might not win any one stage, but win overall based on points on the supermill calculation.. The one bike selection will just make things interesting...I would enter tomorrow, throw in the social aspect of stage racing(multi day event) and it could just be the best thing since slice bread.
  8. That is what sparked our conversation actually...basically 2 fitness/weight events(XCM & XCO) and two skills based(Enduro & Downhill).
  9. That was our thinking too...enduro bike will probably be first choice no doubt. I can only think of cascades and mankele to host such an event due to their mixed bag of terrain. Could be very interesting ito kit selection...
  10. Myself and jcmeyer got very philosophical yesterday and wondered if an event like this exists. Basically a complete mtb race containing the following diciplines, points allocated based on position finished. Day 1...XCM course Day 2...Enduro course Day 3...Downhill & (Eliminator or XCO) The one rule to rule them all....The bike you start with is the bike you end on. You can't alter or change midway Is there an event like this....could be huge humor.
  11. Look it all comes to perceived value...Some guys value a badge on the headtube, some value R&D, some value boutiqueness, some pure performance(as in lighter / stiffer) and then others local backup. Carbon does nothing for me personally...its a cold material...nothing but a means to an end.
  12. I only know of Pyga and Morewood...maybe there is more
  13. who are they?
  14. The real kicker for me is why someone would want to ride it fake branded bike....clearly there is a market.
  15. Sure....that one slice has just been halfed.
  16. Dont forget...R&D / sponsorships / Advertising / operating expenses of HQ and you will see the pie has one slice left.
  17. You have to include operating costs in there before you can turn profit...
  18. R&D...sponserships...advertising....branding. China has none of that.
  19. No, for sure...a viable option. What I am referring to are basically a whole recipe....not just frame angles and tube lengths Things like carbon layup procedures...carbon types on different sections...QC procedures...when they get the "recipe".
  20. Yip, exactly....what the big brands don't realize is that you sign in blood when handing over your IP to the east. Sure you save bucks on labour....and in the short run the board will be happy...profits are up, costs are down. But then they have you by the short and curly's, your IP that you laid out big capital for, you hand over in the form of a mold.
  21. this is where campy got it right...check the "italian job" story Giant and schwinn story is also a good one to read
  22. Tough are nails BUT boat anchors and a bitch to fit..TNT versions anyway and because of this reason makes any trailside repairs a nightmare.
  23. You have a momsen dont you?
  24. Yea not bad, I had mountain king / race king combo once upon a time...tubeless model, tough tough tough tyres those.
