i had the XX's on my bike for a while - found stopping power really wasnt great, often very noisy under breaking, and just felt for that price they were really terribly over rated!!

dont touch avid's - if your building a scalpel ultimate i take it budget not an issue so go for the Formula R1's - unbelievable braking system, lightweight and powerful!!

Too true mtb roadie, and im sure these guys dont get to hop from pub to pub just free roaming often, but this just looooks too awesome! worth the painful 6 hours sometimes plus im sure training per day and then the satisfaction of doing well, well worth it all im sure! still a pretty sweet life i rate

with a near new groupset like that, good suspension and solid wheels why would you want to buy a HT to do it on? Sounds good enough with those components to me

What is your current soft tail? What components and sort of km has the bike done? Why would you even be considering buying a new HT? Are you wanting to race it as hard as you can and therefore thinking a HT will be quicker?

i look like im swimming in my large as well.. all they had left and i got there early, maybe there werent any mediums to start off with or only very few.

couldnt agree with you more, ended up having to take those switchbacks with far too much caution and slowly due to coping with the cramp in both legs!! would be keen to join going through them again
