  1. Not wanting to argue this point, but at IM in PE this year there were a lot of guys getting sea sick on the first loop of the swim, loads of guys were chumming out there... and EL can be very rough...
  2. Hi Rudi - firstly you gona love the vibe of an IronMan event, the whole experience is just amazing - that's why I'll be back for 70.3 no three in 2 weeks... The swim course is marked out on the Friday already - I always swim the loop on the Friday to get my "sights" in, maybe try swimming on the Saturday morning, just to get used to the sea conditions - it can be quite choppy on EL. A lot of guys get seasick (try not to swim through it )... Just swim to the first or second boi, don't do the whole loop if you don't feel like it (but you'll find loads of guys out there on the Sat morning) Swimming part of the course will give you a bit of extra confidence for Sunday... The bike course in EL is the hard part!!!
  3. I'm there as well... in EL, and again in PE... then to Austria as well
  4. Absolutely agree!!!! I've been going to CWC for years (first with my Dad when I was a laaitjie), and now that I am a serious'ish rider. Chris Jnr is a good oke with a good heart, he won't purposefully rip anyone off. As in any business they are not mistake proof - but big ups to him for owning up to his error and correcting it. I think we can all learn from that...
  5. CAAD is the shizzzz... have to spend a lot more $$$ to get that quality on a carbon bike!
  6. Its R19,999 at CWCycles (Snr's shop not the online one ) I saw them yesterday...
  7. IronMan is the most amazing event I've ever done... be mentally prepared and just go out there and enjoy your first one. But be warned - it get's addictive, I'm planning my trip to Austria to do the IronMan there in July
  8. No ways - those are the rules for socks if you were racing in the '80s... on the updated list, all the cool kids will wear black socks with brilliant white Sidi's... If you argue, I'll beat you and steal your tuck shop money!
  9. White Sidi's are for the cool kids... wet wipes are optional As for Giro pink... only if you have a matching pink short, socks, helmet and shades... but then you'll look like a girl
  10. It's only uncool if you wear white shorts with rainbow stripes on them...
  11. I had the same problem with a brand new pair of RXS pedals, strangely the left pedal as well After a while the problem disappeared, but i had to really force my cleat in the pedal for a few rides...
  12. The problem comes in when guys advertise wheels as "brand new" (this has been debated hugely on the hub), and to the uninitiated the wheels look good on the pics - but to us who have been around a while we know wheels model names etc - and then you see the wheels are at least 3/4 years old... ja - I wana see how the dude has used it for one race only... So be careful, do a bit of a nag with questions... and no you don't get a warrantee with your second hand hoops (not that you would always need it - but it's ncie to know that if needs be you have the warrantee in place)... just my 2.51 cents
  13. Ja - but I'm sure it :Felt" goooooood
  14. I've seen Anriette riding on the Bottelary road lately in a pink "Felt" kit...
  15. I think whoever does it, will sand it down as EigerSA has said, but then you use a type of primar (similiar to what they use on plastic bumpers) which allows the new paint to "stick"... definetly can be done, not sure who could do it thou...
  16. huh
  17. Just remember to rinse it out before adding your 32GI before your next ride... 32gi + chlorine doesn't tastte too nice...
  18. I train mostly early mornings - 4.30am, and even then lately the wind has been pomping! But luckily I can head to gym for a pool session, but still... not been able to ride my bike makes me "moerig"...
  19. Why not use cleats on one pedal, and normal pedals on the other... at the end of the ride the leg that is more tired worked harder...
  20. 30% + VAT + 10% duties... mine duties and all that stuff added 50% in total to the online price I paid... So it's not always as cheap as it looks... They calculate it on the invoice you present when collecting the goods at the PO...
  21. I've never had that problem with new brake pads

    Why RRP?

I prefer ads in magazines and online stating the RRP - then I know how mush it should cost if i go to my LBS...
  23. Waiting for the guys from the travel agency in Europe to get back to me, flights are sorted... so I'm halfway there Bike course is kinda flat with 2 tough hills each lap - guys say the spectators on the climbs give it a TdF feel... ran is totally flat as well, and that swim... is just epic! If it is a Nice holiday you are after. Myself and a couple of friends have entered IM Nice 2011, coming? That's planned for 2012
  24. I also have this problem regularly - my body is just so sore I can't get comfy, and struggle falling asleep... a sleeping tablet usually helps with that for me
