I had a car flashing me last night because the MS was to bright for them Was really dark yet and i used the strobe function (just because i wanted too). The light is pretty ok for my needs, and if it breaks, then its tough luck. I'll chalk it up to lessons learnt. But right now im far from being a pro, just trying to get back into the game and loose some weight and MS is perfect for that on the roads at night time. Admittedly i havent done any offroading with the light yet and that will propably be the true test.
  2. I had the standard Merida x-mission saddle which chomped my backside and left scars...virtually. Then i got the Gobi and life is much better. More time in the saddle, no purple or red marks on my butt after a ride. Propably one of my better investments.

Shipping is free from them for basically anything. Ordered my Magic shine and receiced without any hassles. Think it worked out to abt R870. Took abt 2 weeks from start to finish.
  6. I have same saddle and same seatpost with same issue..... I tightened the nuts some more today and the creaking is provisionally gone, i just rode around the block. Ill do the silicon thing for good measure as well.
  7. Id also be interested, especially to also do the connecting piece between Majik and Hillcrest. Still need to register with the club though... I sent a mail to James, but didnt get any reply.
  8. Where can one get his hands on re-usables??? Normal hardware store??
  9. Yes' date=' i noticed today that i can only restart on the 3rd gear and heavier. The 1st 2 gears spin to fast to get my foot on the pedal + that tree trunk is my nemesis. yeah, and it seems like the fence is magnified!!! And with my limited techinical skills, theres not much room for restarting before i get zapped! CJVDM2010-02-18 15:11:16
  10. A very nice piece of offroad in Durbanville (Western Cape). Theyve built some good single track and easy to access.
  11. I need to know how to climb a hill (MTB) as it seems there is some technical skill i do not possess. (it could be due to my power to weight ratio, but lets not go there ). The top loop of Majik forest can be attained by either going straight up via (I think they call it) Everest or the back loop which has 1 fairly short steep hill and then one has to acent alongside the electric fence (narrow single track with fence on the 1 side and bushes on the other). Honestly i can not get up either way without having to push my bike and the electric fence is like a magnet (almost crashed into it twice today) and ive no idea of the voltage it puts out. So, any Majik experts out there that can advise or just general advise how to attack a hill. Everest is super rocky and super steep. At the end of the day i want to get up either way without having to push my bike.
  12. Sounds very cool. Ill join the club within the next 2 weeks But will not be able to make it tmwr, due to sudden bout of the flu. Would be cool if you could draw a rough map on google earth or something and post route profile as well. the connection between Hillcrest and Contermans must be quite a climb?? Looking forward to it.... Any other trails in the foreseeable future??
  13. Maybe a wee bit of topic but could be interesting for some http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/fitness/article/nutrition-13-tips-to-make-you-a-faster-rider-24656 They do include Gels as well They also specifically mention that the drink should include both glucose and fructose. This again validates the AJ mix which i started using a short while back.
  14. So i guess you have to stop to eat the sandwich?? Isnt that a waste of time, eg use an energy bar rather? (which is easier to unwrap and eat while riding)
  15. Bought my Rogue on Friday and have done a couple of rides. Keeps the water nicely cool, even during Saturdays heat (4hr ride). Didnt even feel the weight on my back. But i only managed to get 1.5 L into the bladder (without taking it out of the bak). All in all, a good buy.. Hey! Thanks for the blowing tip. It wouda propably have taken me a bit longer to figure it out , but thats what the hub's for!!! CJVDM2010-01-25 14:51:33
  16. Ok, i found the route, thanks to Google Earth Now im on a mission to find a path across the hills to Stellenbosch. My last resort will be over Devonvalley. Any tips / routes would be appreciated.
  17. I like exploring new trails (incl dirt roads) and have heard there is a road between Kuilsriver golf course and Zevenwacht. The road at the golf course is private and says no (motor)bikes, but im not sure whether the owner of the land is ok with mountainbikers on his farm roads. Does anyone know whether its ok to try those roads? Ive worked out a route on Google earth which seems very straight forward. Also, anyone know of a route from +- Golf course over the hill to Stellenbosch? If so, a map of some kind would be very much appreciated.
  18. Most informative post yet
  19. I suppose you all riding with lights?
  20. Thanks guys . I just thought the pro's wont have support everywhere in the mountains.... 2nd Question: Does one carry a mix in your camelbak, or just water? I was thinking of water only in camelbak and some AJ mix in my waterbottle (perhaps a bit stronger) which i can wash away with the water. Ive heard the camelbak bladder can become a but messy..
