  1. i hop the night ride is on tmwr? any feedback from the prev weeks? ive been away and this will be my 1st cwc ride this yr.
  2. Pity there is no shimano option....
  3. Ok, just to confirm then. i am no racing snake but planning to do some multi day events eg sani2c. Would the Pyga be optimal for thator should i go for a more conventional setup? from my understandng the Pyga can be raced as well?
  4. So which fork and wheels are you planning on? I see the ZTR Race Gold (CWC) might not hold my weight but im not sure whether the Shimano XT Wheels have the right setup eg they have quick release skewers and not sure what the Pyga back triangle takes.
  5. So, the hype on the Pyga got to me as well, but.... seems no full bikes are available and one needs to build the bike yourself. What would be the recommendation for a mid price Pyga with reasonable weight? eg i dont want to spend 100K to build a superlight bike, thinking more in the range of 30K or slightly above. I weigh 100kg's (soon to be 90 and need some advice from the experts on parts to use eg groupset / wheels ect i think XTR / XX groupset might be too pricy?? (im a shimano fan and prefer a XT breaking system) So far ive come up with: Frame = 16,000 Groupset XT = 8,000 Wheels (Shimano XT) = 3,800 Stem = 600 Saddle = 800 Bars = 700 Seatclamp = 150 Seat post = 850 Tyres = 1200 Fork RockShox SID World Cup Dual Air 2011 = 7,500 Pedals XT = 700 The pricing on stem/saddle/bars/seatclamp/seatpost are pure estimates on average type items Total = 40,250 which is getting a bit out of hand for my budget. The mag priced the Pyga at 31K but not sure how they managed that

    New Cube 29ers

Yeah, i saw that as well but havnt asked them yet. It had avid 55 (never seen them before) brakes. Also, im just guessing its the pro as this one was carbon and R23000 but the frame has no model number that i could see. Still, sweet looking bike though, both of tem :-) Must admit i prefer shimano though. If i do take the bike, i want to change the brakes to xt as well.

    New Cube 29ers

Sweet looking bike!!!! I saw the scott scale 29 pro at cwc the other day, carbon with full xt except shfters which is slx. Internal cabling with oversized bb, a real beaut of a machine. Retailing for R23k. Def part of my list when im buying new bike although this cube will be ranked with thatas well. Choices choices :-)
  8. Hi, SLX by FAR!!! I had the Hayes on my bike, but they constantly scrubbed against the rotors and you had to reset them every time i put the wheel back in. I am a fanatic about noise on my brakes. Then i bought the Avis 5's ....... Gave them back the same day (very narrow space between the brakes and the rotor thus constant rubbing as well + the plastic thingy to adjust the levers were crap) and the good people at CWC exchanged them for me for SLX (think i had to pay a little bit extra) and i have not been happier. The SLX's are perfect, good grip, no noise unless they wet. So, definitely the SLX
  9. Lekker race gewees die klimme was bietjie meer as wat gedink het. Garmin gee 893m klim vir die 40km ipv die 650km op die site. Paar etter klimme teen die einde!
  10. I definitely need to re-assess my perspective of climbing then!!!!
  11. Someone else that did the 42km also mentioned that they did not have much single track. Do the 60km next time, it was a blast!!!
  12. Approx 1450m accent and 59.2 km distance as per my Garmin
  13. What an awesome race!!!! The 60km had really great single track, some parts a bit congested. My 1st Burger and got seeded B but started with my buddy in C. The only hill that killed me was Botmaskop. I expected a lot worse from the next couple of hills but they were really cool. Oh, and did i mention the single track???!!!! Frikken awesome My buddy seemed to have left his race legs at home so we did an easy 4:21 although my garmin shows a moving time of 3:53. I still had lots of energy left at Papegaaiberg.. Next year am aiming for 3:30 Although the race organising beforehand was rather crap, the race itself, markers, guys showing the way ect was pretty good. I wonder how the guys on 29's with camelbaks found that ride underneath the road at delheim? My helmet was rubbing against the ceiling at the end and i was laying flat on my toptube What a thorough enjoyable race!!
  14. Any chance of auctioning a mountain bike as well???
  15. None yet < 40 ????
  16. +1 !! The Bosal is a good choice, cheaper than the Thule. Bought mine 3 months back and happy as can be!!
  17. My resting heartrate was approx 70bpm before i started cycling 2 yrs back. A couple of months back it was around 63. This morning i decided to update my Garmin heartrate zones and to my surprise, my resting heartrate now, typing in front of the computer is 54 bpm. I started cycling a lot more (2 X 50km, 1 x 75km and 1 x 30km) approx 3 months back and also started to participate in races. I know this is not always indicative of performance, but its a feel good thing. So whats your resting heartrate currently? From wikipedia: cyclist Lance Armstrong has been known to have resting heart rates to as low as around 32 bpm, and cyclist Miguel Indurain had a resting heart rate of 28 bpm.
  18. Tough race but great route!! I really enjoyed the single track and downhill drops. Just to many hills for my liking Will have to do some serious changes to my training though. I just made the cutoff
  19. Thanks, the Bosal rep have already agreed to meet me to do a demo. I just didnt want to waste his time if im not interested. basically im set on the Bosal, but was wondering whether the Thule is worth the extra R1000. From the comments so far, it seems Bosal is edging ahead in the race.
  20. I in the market for a bike rack which will fit a tow bar and im leaning towards the Bosal, purely because of the cost. Bosal 2 bike rack - approx R3700 Thule 2 bike rack - approx R4500 I would like to know whether the Thule offers somethings which justifies the odd R1000 extra? Otherwise i would probably settle on the Bosal. Ive heard of Buzzrack as well, but thats all. I dont know their cost or quality.
  21. Maybe there was a really strong crosswind ?
  22. Im also not a big climber, but something that helped me was a decent bike fit. They moved my saddle approx 3 cm higher, cleats to the back of my shoes, handlebars up ect ect. I was a road cyclist for many yrs and thought i had the bike fitted correctly, but Pieter at CWC sorted me out quickly. Riding a bike is a lot more enjoyable these days. Also, what the guys above said, training, intervals ect. But if you havnt had a proper bike fit done, i would really consider that
  23. Got my issue fixed at last. Had to update GTC to version 3.61 (seems the older version crashes when the new edge 500 firmware is updated. But, 3.61 only works with windows service pack 3, so had to install that 1st. Now its all working again Ill look into the sporttrack option. At this moment im just a recreational cyclist trying to loose some weight. Dunno if i need all the plugins and other gizmos
  24. No one else experienced this issue? if this is due to the new upgrade, can i roll back to ver2.6 ?
  25. Not sure if anyone else is facing this problem. After the update and setting the recording to 1 sec, my activity uploads to Garmin Connect, but it does not update anymore to Garmin training centre When updating to Garmin training centre, it does all the updates, shows in the activity, then closes the program. When re-opened, its just my old activities showing. Any suggestions?
