  1. Generally I enjoyed the race. I could see that the guys did a lot of effort to find nice single track. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> But yes the congestion was a pain especially through the really nice bits of ride-able single track . It did not help catching the +30km at the end but then again if I don?t want to sit in a queue I need to get fitter so that I can ride faster. The seeding system for MTB races will definitively help but then again I will still start in the last batch. I did mention I need to train more.... I would like to do the Cullinun race but will have to see if my wife is working that weekend. PS: What?s up with the ?Goodie? bag. Mine consisted out of bunch of pamphlets and a scrap of paper stating it is a voucher of some sort. I could, however, not find where I have to redeem it after the race . Ox_Wagon2009-06-22 03:17:42
  2. And where is the pics of the Lady in Red?
  3. RIP
  4. One of the (current in CNA) Brit MTB Mag had a group test and they did not like the Scalpel. Check MTB review and Bike Radar.
  5. There is no simple answer but have a look at Swalbes three tire system. It will give you a good idea what to look for. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I been happy with these for dry and not to loose conditions Front - Mountain king Rear - Race king For looser/wetter conditions I would replace the rear Race king with another Mountin king. The SB8 is another nice dry rear tire but I don?t like it on the front.
  6. They will most probaly just do a factory reset. My old s710 is at the end of its live and it is stuck on the maxsimum elevation and does not show any altitude varation. I spoke to them and they basicly said that if a factory reset can't sort it they would have to replace the PC board. It is a bit expencive but still cheaper than a new watch. 7. Or do the last day of the Sani2sea........
  8. The sad bit is that you have to make sure that the switch to carbon is actualy a weight saving . Upgrade to a better fork (with better damping) not to save weight but to get a better performing front end. I don't know if your Tora has ?Motion control? damping. Some of the solo air Tora?s have. I currently ridding a VERY entry level fork without damping and it isn't a lot of fun. Ox_Wagon2009-06-04 02:28:06
  9. I have set my S710 to 0m. Remember the polar calculate an altitude with an air pressure and temperature measurement. So it is only an approximation. If you do the same circuit over and over but the temperature changes (early morning to mid day you will see a drift in altitude. So what may be the case is that for a certain temperature and pressure it will have a range of altitude, which it limits you to, that is possible. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Polar Service center is in Kayalami. Phone them or make an appointment and they will check it while you wait.
  10. Eat less?? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It is the easiest and cheapest option. So if you not on about 6-8% body fat don?t consider anything else. I heard of guys spending R10 000 plus and only loose about 600-700g which is the difference between a full and empty water bottle.
  11. Immmm , I also try to stay as far as possible from proprietary spares but?...in a moment of weakness I bought an American Classic wheelset that unfortunately was the old version that use funny sized bearings. I did a quick search when I realized it is the old version and found it would be a pain to get bearings. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I rechecked the bearings sizes today and realized that my AM rear hub uses your mystery bearing an the front hub uses a R4 bearing ( ??x 5/8? x 0.196?) . I see the enduro guys also make the R4. Ox_Wagon2009-06-02 07:14:53
  12. Aaaa a clue.... make it a Crane creek hub then. http://www.bikeparts.com/productinfo/Enduro-cartridge-bearing-1526-15x26x7-55102-65524.html Found another source: http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.aspx?p=product&id=8015&n=SMR2615-2GS_NB2 Seams radio control cars may also use this size. 13. Is it a American Classic hub by any chance? The local shop also can't find your Alien bearing.... The other two is priced between R15-R20. Ox_Wagon2009-06-02 05:25:15
  14. Says the guy riding a "All mountain" Morewood with long travel fork!
  15. The SKF 6006 and SKF 6303 have totally diffrent dimensions to what you looking for.
  16. Wil pop into the local bearing shop tommorow. The 6006 looks like the problem child. The other place to look is skate board bearings but they tend to be expensive. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  17. Maybe this will help Designation: Dimensions: SKF: Nachi: 71902 28 x 15 x 7mm 61902 6902 6006 26 X 15 X 7mm ? ? 15245 24 x 15 x 5mm 61802 6802
  18. The problem, as I understand it being a back of the pack cyclist, is that some people "buy" better seeding by taking out a racing license instead of cyclosport even though they are unable to keep up with their age group. So the idea is to have one system only based on seeding or only allowing a set number of people into the racing classes based of seeding. So for example only the top 100, according to seeding in a age group, will be allowed to buy a race license. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Ox_Wagon2009-06-01 07:18:20
  19. You mean LBS?s actually still have customers!
  20. Did not enjoy the race . Spend more time carrying and pushing my bike than riding it.
  21. I don't see any rocks so it can't be pics of the monster!

    Shock oil

Some very useful and practical application of cavitation, unlike bicycle suspension. I have not tried it my self...<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> http://www.wikihow.com/Break-a-Beer-Bottle-With-Your-Bare-Hands http://www.howtodothings.com/hobbies/how-to-break-a-beer-bottle-with-your-bare-hands
