argie1 Posted March 8, 2011 Share Did my first in 1980, all 2000 of us in a mass start with a cannon fired off the castle wall.Best was 1986 in 2h50 for 104 km with Ertjie B just 10 mins ahead of me. Worst weather 1987, year of the storm, wanted to go home when I got to Camel Rock, DNF. Since then its been fun just finishing, got about 6 sub 3s along the way. Now I just go and enjoy the ride and help others if they need it. Starting H this year and age has nothing to do with it. TITS = Time in the saddle. orbeaorca Posted March 8, 2011 Share My first was in 1994 then none again till 2005 and this will be my seventh. My fastest was 316 in 2008. My best ride was last year with my 11 year old son on a tandem in 2010 and we did 5:05.Just to enjoy the ride and witness his sense of achievement was amazing. 2011 was actually the year I had promised to take him when he was twelve but last year i had the feeling that I must take him and got a substitution entry. He developed epilepsy two months after the argus which has been difficult to control and we have not been able to ride the tandem again. If you want to ride with your kids/wife, dont keep postponing. Do it. Its worth it and you dont know what tommorrow holds. Edited March 8, 2011 by orbeaorca

madmarc Posted March 9, 2011 Share I done 10 in 2010 - so got the special medal and retired - it's just getting same old same old!!! my best time was 3:28 with a broken pedal can't remember which year. My worst time 6:10 think it had something to do with the bottle of Captain Morgan i drank the night before.

Frosty Posted March 20, 2011 Share Have missed the last 3, 2:53 being my best. IF I do it again, it will be a coffee/beer-stop ride on a non-fast bike, forcing me to rather enjoy the "gees"
