My last 26'er was a 32x16t and there were times it really hurt, but fitness picked up and it became "Ok" .... this time around I think I am going to start with the 18t and see how it rolls and then hop onto the 16t if the legs and knees can cope. I ride 32 - 18 on my 26'er, and it hurt the first couple of times. Now, after a year riding at least once a week, I'm thinking of going 17 or 16 at the back. Currently have a 34-16 on the 26 and with my diminished fitness I can really feel it on the climbs. So i thought for the on-one i will roll with 34-17...maybe I am approaching this completely wrong?
