What a coincidence the bakkie had been stolen... let's hope the cops do their jobs and fingerprint the interior:

Johannesburg - A man was knocked down and killed while cycling from Trichard to Secunda, Beeld reported on Monday.

Christo Hattingh, 26, a member of Secunda's Sasol cricket team, was cycling back to Secunda shortly after 1am on Sunday, following a match against IFS Witbank.

He was wearing a reflective vest when he was struck by a Nissan Navara and killed, opposite the Albany bakery along the main road between the two towns.

He was dragged a few metres. The driver then apparently reversed over his body and fled the scene. The car was found abandoned on Sunday afternoon.

When police found the owner he claimed the car had been stolen the previous day. However, no case had been opened with police.

The driver was not arrested. Police were investigating a case of culpable homicide.

RIP young dude (scary that he is my age!!!!!) life can be so carelessly looked over sometimes. Owner should be arrested because he did not report the stolen vehicle by the time the crime took place!

Very sad, but have to ask why ride so late/early on Saturday/Sunday night.

He was riding home from a cricket match. Presumably bicycle was his primary mode of transport.
