If you think about it, it's actually a pretty good move. It will more than likely happen during the season at some point in time, so why not know the effects on the car's dynamics?

JONATHAN NOBLE has just been speaking to Red Bull team boss Christian Horner about the RB11 running without a front wing.

Kvyat damaged the only wing Red Bull has here at Jerez, so the team is carrying out very basic work that is can complete without one while a spare is flown out.

There's no guarantee that the new spare will make it to Spain in time to allow the team to do any more proper running today, so everyone at Red Bull is having to cross their fingers.

Aditionally, the Red Bull car can't possibly get any worse looking without a front wing...

Kinda related....

Nissan's 2015 LMP1 challenger. Front wheel driver, front mounted engine with bigger wheels front than rear...sure is different if nothing else.

It is basically a back to front GTR then. Runs the same(or very similar) 3.6L V6 engine.

Should be interesting.....

The more I think about it the more I realize what a HUGE mistake Honda (and McLaren) made by going exclusive in their first year.

While McLaren has been battling another team could possibly have raked up some km's - pending obviously that the issues aren't 100% on Honda's side. Also now McLaren have no reference on the chassis side.

I truly hope this works out for them...

* Lotus delayed by telemetry issue
* Nasr causes red flag with spin at Turn 9
* Only five laps for Red Bull and six for Williams so far

11:05 For those on our mobile site without a leaderboard, here's how things are shaping up so far:

1 Raikkonen

2 Rosberg +0.2s

3 Sainz +1.6s

4 Ricciardo +8.5s

5 Nasr +8.8s

6 Alonso +9.3s

7 Massa +19.9s

8 Maldonado (no time)

Can you spot the people who haven't set a laptime on slicks yet?

that Ferrari is genuinely fast.

still early days and its only testing but the Ferrari pu sounds a lot smoother on downshift and more seamless on the upshift than last years. Signs are that they have fixed their PU integration and mapping problems of 2014
