If stewards don't buy McLaren's excuse HAM cd lose pole, penalties vary from fine to 5 or 10 place grid drop to back of grid/pit lane start

Although back of the Grid is totally harsh, I could understand dropping him 10th, but back of the gird? ouch.

The team have endeared themselves to the stewards. Then they walk in and try to push a silly mistake as a force majeure.

Hamilton bears the punishment of the team's error. If he was pushed to 10th he would started in front of someone who did not break the rules.

I agree, it is harsh though.

I disagree Mclaren is a pro outfit and this is obviously a mistake rather than deliberate, for him to give up a .5 second advantage he could have fueled himself up with another 30l of fuel and still would have taken pole. So no in my opinion its way harsh.

The mistake resulted in the rules being broken....simple. Whether he would've been able to take poll is besides the issue.

so can we strip shcumi of 5 of his 7 titles then? since it was proven his car was illegal in 4 of them and one he drove illegally?

Ill agree to disagree its too harsh.

I think sportsmen who don't understand "being a team player" should play rugby for a season.

Silly mistake, or blatant cheating?

No, it is the issue. Each litre of fuel you carry adds time to your lap.

No nobody is dumb enough to do that if you know each and every car gets tested at the end, it was either a miscomunication in the pits or a fuel rig error. And every 10l of fuel adds approx .2 of second to laptime, so comming up short by not adding the addtional 2l they need to cruise around a lap would add something like .0002 of second to their time. They knew they were miles ahead of the rest of the field they wouldnt willingly take a chance like that.
