Hey everyone

I need some insight as to how durabil these rims are? I know some of you use them just for racing and some might even train with them?

Have any of you broken/ cracked some of these rims?

Thanks guys

Rim durability is a function of the type of material used, how much of it there is, the construction method (eyelets or not), rim shape and, magnitude and quantity of and cyclical stresses aka riding.

The Alpine is therefore at the bottom end of the scale with respect to durability.

It is ultra lightweight, has no eyelets and is made from anodised aluminium. It is like having bad genes in the family and then still insisting on smoking, fatty beef and zero exercise. The combo is not good.

Having said that, the ZTR products are pretty good. I've built dozens of them for clients who ride a lot and I've just had one set come back due to fatigue cracks. I can't remember which one it was...whichever was discontinued. It was replaced under gaurantee by a Crest.

The other side of durability is strength and although the rims are strong enough to carry a heavy rider, they do bend very, very easily if you hit a rock. I fix plenty of ZTR rims. They are just too thin for riding with very low pressure.

Hi there

I am currently in the process of building this exact wheelset, I have the American classic hubs and the mmx rims, I was just wondering about spoke length, on the website the lengths are as follows: Front L/R 250/252 mm Rear L/R 249/240

I want to order them but just double checking on those lengths, the reason i'm ordering online and not going to a shop is that they want to charge me R50.00 per DT swiss revolution spoke when I can get them at a fraction of the price.

Regards
